The dark-hair female at the bar, May 13, 4pm ruined our experience. We've been to this restaurant 5 times in a year but may not come back because of her. Sadly, the food here is actually great.
She mocked us when we attempted to speak French and we tried to introduce ourselves and ask for a table ... I actually thought it was pretty good French. She told us they weren't serving food. I said thank you and we started to leave - we were starving. As we walked out she laughed and waived her hands, mockingly, with the other two customers who were at the bar. She didn’t think I noticed. The other two customers didn't laugh with her. I couldn’t help myself and I turned back and asked the female bartender what she thought was funny about us and she blushed and tried to blame it on something else but it was obvious to everyone around.
One of the two customers came outside and told us that she was sorry for the woman's behavior and that she thought it was great that we are practicing French.
We love Paris and we are trying. And we certainly appreciate when foreigners are learning English and are attempting to practice. The female bartender should have been more understanding. Maybe she was having a rotten day. I don’t know. But it was insulting and sad. It’s hard enough learning a new language without having someone outright mock our attempt. I hope she...
Read moreMy wife and I went searching for a small, quiet Parisian cafe for lunch and found this on Google, Yelp and Trip Advisor. It was overall well reviewed so we decided to give it a shot and I'm thrilled that we did.
There are cafes all over Paris. We went to a number of them, in fact; Les Temps Des Cerises was by far our favorite. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff was courteous, friendly, and integral to making our meal choice. We started with the escargot, which was delicious; if you have any trepidation about trying it, try it here and that will go away with the first bite!!! I had beef tartar and my wife had an amazing duck confit. You cannot go wrong. If I'm ever back in Paris, this is the one cafe to which I will be returning!!!!
Not only was the food good and the staff lovely, but the location was great. It wasn't loud, we were able to sit outside and have a conversation in a normal tone of voice. Some of the busier cafes on busier streets are quite loud just because of the amount of people and general Parisian...
Read moreStill good but has fallen back a step. Between my daughter and myself we’ve eaten here five times in the last seven years. It is one of our go to restaurants in Paris. We love the atmosphere and the food has always been good. Our most recent visit on a Monday night was a little disappointing. Two reasons for the dissatisfaction. First, the tall thin bartender/hostess was not friendly or welcoming. I’m quite comfortable pairing and ordering wine, but I will often ask for suggestions from the wait staff. She was either unable or disinterested in helping and reacted negatively when I didn’t want the most expensive bottle. Second issue was that the one thing two of us came here for was the burger and they were “out.” Not sure how you can be “out” of hamburger and buns - you’re within blocks of dozens of butcher shops and bakeries. Seems a lack of effort on management’s part. Other than that, the young man serving us was friendly and good at his job. We would return, but suggest that the restaurant is doing itself no favors by having this young woman as...
