We got three different types of noodles, pictured below: (1) spicy beef hand-pulled noodles; (2) beef hand-pulled noodles; and, (3) dan dan hand-pulled noodles (spicy).
🌉Ambience: 5/5 very lively, had a short queue even until 10, with people still coming to the restaurant. people eat relatively quick and leave when done, but there is time to hold conversation and enjoy a meal with friends if wanted.
slightly cramped with small wiggle room, but that just adds to the atmosphere of the location. very charming environment, with an open window where you can see the chefs working and making noodles by hand.
🍜Flavour: 4.5/5 very rich broth, the dan dan noodles had the richest broth but those with a milder palette may prefer just the plain beef hand-pulled noodles. the spicy beef noodles were not spicy, and only had a bit of spice as flavour.
i would definitely recommend getting the hand-pulled noodles given that it seems to be their specialty, and you can watch the chefs working on the noodles live.
💸 Worth: 5/5 although it is a very authentic restaurant run by chinese chefs, those hoping for noodles identical to the level of locals in china should temper their expectations. the noodles are not exactly to the level of the ones in china, but still received 5/5 given that they were the most fulfilling bowl of noodles i have had in europe so far. the value for portion was brilliant....
Read moreGreat find in Belleville. A real gem. We had decided to have Korean BBQ with the family, but on our way there we saw a place with a long queue. We were intrigued, so much so that we found ourselves ditching the Korean BBQ plan and were standing in the back of the queue.
We go in, the place is small with an open Kitchen where hand pulled noodles are made.
We took the Assortiment de Vapeur which were reallly really good. Glutinous dumpling with great flavours. All of them were super tasty with the Sri Sracha dip that was offered.
We then took two types of noodles:
Spicy hand pulled noodle: The noodles were very good but the rest of the soup was underwhelming. The broth was tasty but not rich at all, and the soup was not spicy at all. The meat was a bit tough and not too flavoursome.
The second soup we took was the hand cut noodle with minced pork and spicy pork broth. It was the recommendation of the waiter, and boy oh boyyy did it deliver. Spicy rich broth was to die for. The flavour, the thickness, the spices. Mamma mia. The hand cut noodle are flat noodles which I preferred to the hand pulled ones. Yes only for this dish I am ready to back here once every month if not...
Read moreWhat a gem! Came with friends and could NOT be more pleased.
We arrived to see a cue at the door. The room was packed with much deserved respect of grateful diners. Our group of 6 waited for only half an hour as the staff quickly turned over many tables. My expectations were answered. The bowls of hand made noodles were bountiful, the beer was cheap and the dumplings were delectable.
A bowl of hand stretched noodles arrived with a rich broth with a slick of oily, chili sauce doused ground pork. The noodles were firm, slick and slapped my face with spice and flavour. Not enough napkins and I didn't care. A plate of mapo tofu was soft and warm and meaty with adequate spice that even my French company could savour.
The knife cut noodles were another beast entirely. The irregular shape brought a new dimension to the bowl; thick and slippery with thin edges that irridesced in a bath of meaty broth topped with braised pork spare ribs.
When the Chinese style dumplings arrived it was just in time to claim real estate in our ambitious bellies. Delicious pork and chive morsels in crispy soft parcels. Is was a visceral dining experience. Thank you Mian Guan! I will not soon...
