As much as 3rd wave specialty coffee is growing rapidly in Paris, excellence in espresso pulls that truly showcase specific beans and enthusiasm in conversation with the staff is still not common.
The team at Motors Coffee stands out strongly among specialty coffee cafes we visited during our recent visit in Paris.
While they don't roast their own coffee, they source and curate some of the best—and distinctly superior—coffee beans from boutique sources. Verified as I bought a few bags/containers of beans for our stay in Paris.
While there, the barista I was chatting with pulled an excellent, well-balanced espresso pull that showcased the fruity complexity of the bean, while extracting the sweetness. The pull resulted in a very clean cup that had a lingering and evolving after taste that lasted for a minute after finishing the cup.
I was bummed our meanderings didn't take us back more often, as that exchange and the beans I purchased from them made a lasting memory for me.
Thanks for that and all...
Read moreTerrible experience with a horrible waitress (shortish, blonde hair). We were 2 adults and 2 children; my husband went in to order while my children and I sat outside. This woman started to go on (in bad English) about the fact one of my children was drinking a bubble tea (they don’t sell bubble teas in this shop). My son stood up and went sitting a few meters away, but I dared questioning (in French) their policy, after all we were ordering 3 drinks for the rest of the family and he’s only a boy. She basically told me to shut up and leave, saying you don’t go to a restaurant carrying your own burger. What a horrible cow. I said no way, we paid so we are def going to have our drinks. Btw these were not even that great, my chai was bland and tasteless and coffees quite average. What a horrible experience. Definitely do not recommend this joint. Trying to play it cool and American but nothing like it. Just miserably,...
Read moreThese people are incredibly rude. We ordered coffee and pastries from here, and sat on the street to eat them. My daughter also purchased a pastry from the shop across the street and came to sit with us. Immediately the staff came out to tell us “outside food” was not allowed. This was odd to us considering we purchased most of the items we were eating from the shop, but we complied and put the “outside food” away in our bags. A few minutes later another person came out and told us we couldn’t be there because we had outside food. I told him that we put it away, and that everything we were eating and drinking came from their shop. He replied “but we saw you earlier.” There are WAY too many wonderful places to get coffee nearby - stay away from this one unless you want terrible customer service...
