Went here based on the 4+ star reviews on google and elsewhere and unfortunately I wasn’t impressed. First the positives, the ambiance was great, the staff was very attentive.
The not so good now. The food was average at best. The first warning sign were the samosas. They were made in filo dough, and greasy, a little embarrassing for a Punjabi restaurant. Better samosas can be had near Gare du Nord!
Secondly, the dinner arrived even before we were done with the appetizers, within 5 mins of serving the appetizers! Which would suggest everything is pre-cooked and just waiting to be reheated and put on a plate. The taste was just ...okay. Nothing great. I asked for it to be spicy and it barely had any heat to it. The chicken was clearly precooked and the gravy poured over it, so unlike most good Punjabi food didn’t have any time to soak in the flavors. At minimum they could have cooked the chicken in the pre-prepared gravy and it would have tasted better.
Lastly, they seemed to be in a big rush to clear the plates even before we were done. What’s the rush?
In a country where a meal is something to be savored slowly, they seemed to be a rush to get you out of the door. The table next to us has their appetizers AND dinner all served at the same time !
Overall a rather disappointing dinner. It was okay but I...
Read moreWe had dinner at New Jawad today and honestly, we did not expect such amazing food. At first, we went to a different restaurant but decided not to eat there, so we looked online, saw the great reviews for New Jawad, and thought we’d give it a try. From the moment we walked in, the place was spotless and welcoming, and the service was fantastic, especially from the owner, Waqar, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was simply outstanding we ordered biryani, chicken chilli, naan, and chicken tikka, and everything was fresh, flavourful, and cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed Kulfi and complimentary tea, which was fantastic in taste. The song selection was excellent and really enhanced the atmosphere, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. It was one of those rare dining experiences that felt special from start to finish, and it created a wonderful memory we will always cherish. I would give it 5 out of 5 stars. If you’re in the area, this place is a hidden gem that’s absolutely...
Read moreI came on a work trip and the hotel strongly suggested I ate here. As I walked past the restaurant window it was beautifully lit with an ambiance so tempting I couldn’t resist. From the moment the door open the service was impeccable - smiled and took me straight to my table leaving the task he was doing immediately to ensure I was comfortable. The waiter identified I was slightly lost due to a language barrier and immediately put me at ease and shared his recommendations. He was spot on with the tikka masala and rice. The pickles and dips were exquisite as well as the main meal and sides. The service was perfect from start to finish with a complimentary drink to close the night. I couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome, satisfyingly full and ready to close the day with a...
