Herme is dubbed the Picasso of pastry and I can see why. The shop we visited was tantamount to a museum of edible treats. He’s famous for his macaroons so that was a must. We tried the chocolate, caramel and almond (each 2 euros). The build up to trying these circles of joy was immense, so as I stood outside his shop and took my first bite I was both excited and scared it wouldn’t live up to my expectations. Unfortunately my fear was realised. Don’t get me wrong here, there was nothing wrong per say, but it was just too rich, too sweet and not the texture I had come to know and love from the ones I’d previously had.

The shop in itself was a little ludicrous. It reminded me of a very high end jewellery shop, which didn’t put it our of place on a street with shops like Max Mara and Didier Guerin. If you walked past it you’d be none the wiser to the fact it wasn’t a place to buy diamonds. It felt odd having 5 servers in a shop that was no bigger than a walk in wardrobe, and equally odd that the chocolates and cakes were securely locked in glass cabinets.

I wanted to show my husband a genuine French patisserie and unfortunately this wasn’t one. Twas a bit...

The very best in desserts. Yes they are not some lone, no name pâtisserie. But all around everything is delicious. The macarons have great flavor that lasts to the finish. The flavors here also go beyond the normal classics. For example I tried the Truffle Almond. I asked the clerk what it tasted like, she thought for a second and said "Autumn". Well after my first bite I can say that is the only word to describe it. I can't say it was bad because it was so unique, I give them props. Macarons tend to be on the jammy side. But that is their style and they do it well. As for the desserts, well just dive in. They do a masterful job of being rich, but not too overpowering. Never have tried the same thing twice and all of them only make me angry that nothing comes close to this good in the US. Recommend coming early as they do sellout of product as the day wears on. Also space is limited, so lines can be long. The service has been hit and miss and you feel rushed when having to decide on what you want to order, since really you want everything. Prices are comparable to other dessert...

Both the pastries and the chocolates that this place had to offer were absolutely delicious. They were decorated very meticulously and tasted delicious. I applaud the chefs that designed and crafted these sweets, as they are very impressive. The pastries were also creatively thought out, like their candies rose petals. Their macarons also had the perfect texture, as they were each really light and creamy, as well as the tastes and designs, which were creatively crafted; their flavors were pretty unique and of course tasted amazing. This cafe’s macarons really changed the game of the pastry, it changed my standards for not only macarons but any other pastry. I truly tasted the city of Paris when I had the food here, as the atmosphere of this cafe was very welcoming, friendly and chic. Coming here, I was not disappointed, and would love to return someday. This place is my go-to for...
