Quartier Vavin — Restaurant in Paris

Went on Friday evening late- server was rude. We had split French/English speaking. He was degrading and then making fun of us at the table with his responses. Had staff talking and staring at us. All we had asked was why the qr code wouldn’t pull up an English menu for the English speaking. He demanded we pick French or English to speak where other places we had no problem. Two mice were running around the floor inside. Server asked if we wanted to move but yelled from the other side that the mice were a mayor of Paris issue not the restaurant. This is definitely not a place to write home about the "true parisian food", although to be fair, this is the best place for a solid cheese burger and beer (at a reasonable price...for Paris). My girlfriend and I came here mostly for the atmosphere and service (we typically sat and had wine or coffee). The outside and indoor seating is very nice, along with the friendly waiters (who helped us decipher the french menu), make this place a convenient cafe if you're near the area or have just left the luxembourg garden. Everyone at the cafe is very friendly, and the decor has an old parisian brasserie feel about it. If you're in the mood for solid food and reasonable prices, this is the place to go! I went here twice during my stay in Paris because my host recommended it. I ordered a mojito cocktail both times. It was excellent. They know exactly how to make it here. The food I ordered on my second visit was delicious! The English menu had “old tomatoes” listed on the small plates/starters. “Old Tomatoes” sounded really bad so I didn’t try it the first visit. I was very curious though and it was almost too hot to eat the second time I went so I ordered it. It was HEIRLOOM tomato slices surrounding a really fresh, young, mozzarella, then drizzled with pistachio pesto. (Served with bread.)
