What a find! We had been 'trouting' (a family term) for a decent place to eat and we plumped for Recontres: the menu was intriguing (duck tartare - come on!!) and the interior had a good feel. The waiter (Guillaume we now assume from other reviews), explained the menu in great detail so we knew exactly what we were ordering. Suffice it to say that everything was cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty. Butter sprinkled with smoked salt (with the black radish) was a revelation. I'm adding it to my repertoire! And a special mention for the aforementioned duck that Liz had and my pâté en croute. And how can lumpy (by design) mashed potato be so damn tasty? Fantastic restaurant. Exactly the kind of place you want to go to when in Paris. Fresh, tasty food that is cooked by people who know what they are doing. Terrific, friendly service, and great advice on wine. We had three courses and a good bottle of red wine for just two people and the bill was only just over 100 euro. The people at the table next to us enjoyed the food so much, they booked another table for the next night. We would have also gone back but we were leaving Paris the next day. Great food. Great wine. Rencontres was recommended by a colleague. What a great recommendation. I’ve been 3 times and me and my partner love it. Great food and lovely service - could not be more friendly and accommodating. Food is fantastic - the meat options are great but also lovely to go to a restaurant in Paris where the vegetarian options are as good as the meat dishes.
