On Wednesday October 13th, we visited Restaurant RECH at Boulevard St. Germain in House of the Latin Americas during lunchtime. We will never forget such a perfect day. Immediately upon arrival, we were accompanied to a superb medium size room in one fragment of the Restaurant with around 20 persons close to a lush garden and lots of streaming sunshine from plenty of large windows, and Frederic came swiftly with the Carte of the Menu and a huge Carte of Wine. The service was all through our lunch, quick but not too quick, very responsive and excellent as the food. My partner took a beef and I enjoyed the lunch menu, and we were not disappointed from the delicate tasters to the starter, mains and dessert. On top of an excellent menu we had and an extra: a surprise from the treasure chest, namely the delightful Mister RECH: Success hazelnut ice cream, hot chocolate sauce, ohhlala. The restaurant is really a Star Restaurant with uppermost imaginable kitchen and spotless service; we will surely come back for more, next time Paris is the destination. We do not find restaurants so tremendous many places although we luckily visits Louis XV : - ) in...
Read moreWe went there for dinner and we were very disappointed. The server was very polite but the service was far from efficient. Our server lacked experience which we could empathize with but generally we were left waiting. For answers to our questions and for our food and drink. The food overall I regret to say was not good. The beef with pepper sauce came with no pepper sauce and we had to ask for the sauce that was forgotten and came much later lukewarm. The monk fish was very tough and was paired with a very bitter vegetable purée. The bread came in individual slices and two types of butter were basically smeared on either side of a bowl and brought out much later than the bread. The cheese course that followed was a huge portion of crumbly Stilton and one other, no extra bread, and the desserts were left wanting. As we were going out, one of the waiters asked us if we wanted a copy of our bill with or without VAT, I’m not sure what that was about. It was very much a show with little substance. Overall, a far cry from our earlier wonderful lunch we had there...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant three years ago and had an excellent experience. Unfortunately, this time was very disappointing. The chef and entire staff have changed, and so has the quality.
The “tomato tarte tatin” was served on pizza dough — nothing like a true tarte tatin. No butter was offered with the bread. The wine list was extremely limited, with very young wines at exorbitant prices. My duck main course was so tough it was almost impossible to chew. Service was also poor — whenever we needed a waiter, none could be found.
The only positive note was the extra bread they provided… which ended up being our dinner, since everything else was a disaster.
Sadly, after this experience, we will not...
