Read moreTrès belle église, communément appelée également église des parlementaires. Ceci étant dû à sa proximité de l'Assemblée Nationale, de l'esplanade des Invalides et du quartier de Solferino.
L'église est tres lumineuse et très bien entretenue. De régulières reunions et conférences ont lieu ici.
L'église, ou plutôt devrai-je dire la basilique mineure sainte Clothilde a reçu ce titre honorifique par le pape Léon XIII en 1897.
Entre 1790 et 1827 ce fut un couvent de carmélites (dans le même quartier). Couvent détruit en 1827 donc. La nécessité d'ériger un lieu de culte s'est avérée necessaire, alors en 1846 l'architecte Gau est choisi pour construire la nouvelle église mais à sa mort c'est l'architecte Ballu qui reprendra les plans et modifiera ceux d'origine transformant ainsi le style en type néogothique.
