Sorry to say, but this is exactly the kind of place that survives only because it looks pretty on instagram and because Rue des Martyrs is a popular place for tourists. I live in the area and have walked by a few times and wanted to try it with my parents who came to visit but here is why I will never go back: our table was dirty and was never cleaned, whe had a very simple order 2 granola, 1 porridge, 1 egg, 1 toast. One granola appeared after 10 minutes, the porridge and egg appeared after 25 minutes, the toast (just bread and jam) after 40 minutes - second granola never arrived. The granola that did arrive had a black hair in it. We didn't have to pay for the granola, but given the service we shouldn't have paid anything. We didn't have time to eat our food as we had a train to catch. Also, the food is very average. I work in restaurant consulting so maybe I am a bit harsh, but this is the first time I have ever left a restaurant review online. To finish on a positive note (and why I gave 2 stars and not 1), at least the...
Read moreThere is a lot of buzz around this place and definitely when you walk in, you get a feeling like the whole 9th arrondissement came to brunch here. At first, staff doesn't really pay attention to you so here is where I would say the place looses at least 10% of its customers. However, once you get seated, the staff becomes more attentive and friendlier and you discover the value of this place, which is great breakfast food: granola rich with nuts, organic eggs that taste just "wow" and carrot cake that is to die for. Though if you get started in the main room, beware most likely you will not hear your partner as the acoustics are pretty bad. Overall for the quality of food and the price I would still rate it very good, just a tiny bit stressful for a...
Read moreBritish chef Rose Carrarini opened her first lunch spot about ten years ago bringing hearty healthy breakfasts and lunches to Paris' rue des Martyrs. By noon each day, the bakery is packed with locals devourering her organic salads and sandwiches and the delicious cakes and pastries, all prepared fresh from the market's ripest ingredients. Today, Rose Bakery has two locations where you can eat in with a daily special and British favorites like sticky toffee pudding, or simply take a scone and tea to go. Great vegetarian options. The service can be a bit rushed and not always with a smile but the quality of the food makes up for it. The weekend brunch brings the crowds so prepare to wait if you don't...
