Excellent Pizza! I should preface this review by stating that I love almost all pizza, even Eillios and Celeste frozen pizzas have a place in my heart (stomach?). I appreciate all styles from the very best New York wood-fired pies and Connecticut coal-fired Apizza to Chicago deep-dish (or stuffed), small town creations, and fast food slices. If the bread and the sauce are good, I've got a smile on my face. But I digress... Via Del Gusto offers a full range of classic Italian fare including dishes like Carpochio (which was delicious) and Carbonara. I had a house special pizza called the Four Seasons. The toppings were split into four sections - artichoke, mushroom, ham, and peppers. It was very thin and lightly sauced and paired very well with the spicy oil on the table. My group split a nice bottle of chianti with dinner and the restaurant delivered a round of free shots to the table after the meal. Green shots that were perhaps part of some custom I'm not familiar with or maybe just a tradition at this spot? Great food and a relaxed atmosphere made this Italian restaurant well worth the rainy walk to and...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant given its high ratings and the fact that it's consistently busy at night—a typically promising indicator. We had made a reservation, but upon arrival, we found all tables occupied and ended up waiting 20 minutes at the bar. The staff was pleasant throughout. Our table for two was on the smaller side and closely set to others, which was fine for us, although it didn't allow much privacy.
The main letdown, however, was the food. Having just returned from Rome, we were looking forward to authentic Italian cuisine. The pizza, unfortunately, was underwhelming. The crust was mediocre, and the toppings lacked freshness and flavor. As for the gnocchi with pesto sauce, it resembled more of a pesto soup with gnocchi floating in it, rather than a well-prepared dish—half of it remained uneaten. It might have been an off night for those particular dishes. While this restaurant certainly surpasses a typical commercial pizza chain, it didn’t impress us enough to warrant a...
Read moreMy kids wanted pizza so I looked up and found this gem of a place. I didn't make a reservation and I was told there was an hour wait. I mentioned I just wanted pizza for my kids thinking they would have take-out but the staff was so good that they accommodated me at a smaller table initially, and moved me to a bigger one later on. The overall place is small and cannot accommodate a lot of people (but who cares when the food is so good)
Coming to the food, I got the Rigatoni Alla Carbonara and my kids got the Ortolina pizza. Food was delectable. Not a single issue with the presentation, taste or flavor. Everything was spot on!
An Italian place and Tiramisu for dessert is a no-brainer. But one must try the Mango and Lime Cremoso. Can't leave without eating that.
Overall, I am glad I found this place and will recommend to all my friends visiting Paris. Also, people reading this review, if you're unsure about trying this place, take my word and eat here. You...
