We were in Paris for our wedding anniversary and were undecided about where to eat, having had a poor experience at a Michelin star restaurant (that will remain nameless) during a previous visit. We found WASL 1880, by chance as it was located close to our hotel, and having read the reviews on Google we decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed! Everything about our experience was 5 Stars. Our waitress was friendly and informative, the atmosphere was cosy and relaxed and the food was absolutely amazing! The chef (and owner of the establishment) took great delight in visiting each table to give diners an insight to each dish and in our case (as we were last to leave) a guided tour of the private dining area in the basement, which was beautiful. For starters we had the red tuna tartare and seabass carpaccio, mains were the octopus catch of the day and grilled lamb chops. To finish we had panacota and the chocolate harmony signature dish. I tried the Grilled Galician Rib-Eye Steak “Rubia Gallega” – perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with rich flavor, paired beautifully with roasted baby potatoes and a parmesan mesclun salad. The Summer Salad was a refreshing, colorful mix of spinach, raspberries, pomegranate, caramelized walnuts, and a mandarin vinaigrette – light yet satisfying. And the Traditional Cold Mezze, especially the hummus, was absolutely delicious and tasted just like the Levant.
