worst restaurant experience in Europe. allow me to mention a few things that they did: -they didnt have fettuccini, spaghetti bolognese, or lasagna (may i remind you its an italian restaurant, these are the main dishes and they should be available at all times) -they didnt have small plates, we had to eat off of a big pizza plate. -there was a hair in our food. -the waiter was licking his fingers before serving the food to another table. -we waited for more than 20 minutes for a lasagna, and when we asked for it they told us that it was out of stock. (may i remind you we weren't informed prehand, we discovered this as we asked and were paying the check) -they allow dogs, & supposedly its okay if you feed the dog and let it bark in the middle of the restaurant. (this is very annoying especially when you start to smell the dogs food while eating) -the restaurant has very poor ventilation. -utensils & plates werent washed well. now you might wonder whether we talked to the manager or not, because we dont want to blame the restaurant. after talking with her, all she said was "im sorry". im sorry? after i ate your hair in my food? in conclusion, this restaurant is possible the worst in...

short:
In a small town like Evian, where tourists are rare, it’s no surprise we were told to sit wherever we liked, only to later be asked to move because the spot was “reserved.” Strangely, our first spot had only Westerners, while the new one was empty. Is petty discrimination their comfort? I suppose so, considering the small-town mindset. We came to spend money, but they seem content with small acts like these. We left at 1:15 PM, with no sign of the 1:30 PM reservation and no goodbye. Guess I expected too much.

It is unfortunate that in a city where tourism seems scarce, outsiders are greeted with a somewhat dismissive attitude. We were told to sit wherever we liked, only to be later informed that the spot we chose was actually reserved, and were asked to move. Interestingly, the area we were originally seated in was entirely occupied by Westerners, while the new table we were directed to had no one seated nearby. How disheartening it is that people resort to such petty forms of discrimination over seating arrangements. However, I do understand. In a place where tourists likely don’t frequent, it seems natural for some local residents, who perhaps haven’t had much exposure to foreigners, to behave this way.
It’s a pity, really. We came as tourists, intending to spend money and enjoy the experience, but I suppose the staff are content with their routine in that small town. If they find joy in telling an Asian customer to sit wherever they like, then exchanging knowing glances with each other before moving them elsewhere, I sincerely hope they continue to find happiness in such small gestures. What a blessed life that must be—to take pleasure in such trivial moments.
When we left after finishing our meal, it was 1:15 PM, and the “reserved” table was supposedly for a 1:30 PM reservation for a group of seven. By the time we left, the restaurant was completely empty. Their operating hours end at 2:30 PM, yet there was no sign of any reservation on the table when we first arrived. Normally, wouldn’t you place a sign on a reserved table? But alas, I must have overestimated the standards of this establishment. It’s just a small shop in a small town after all. And not to mention, no one even bothered to say goodbye as we left. How charming.
