Baristinho — Restaurant in Aachen

Many acquaintances of mine recommended this hang out place to me, so I finally tried it myself with my good friends 3 days ago. However, it turned out to be disheartening.

The atmosphere, well, I mean the interior deco, it somewhat reminded me of X-mas season. The whole cafe space is decorated in what I call it "Mixed but didn't match", the most annoying part is the center piece lighting fixture with plants and star shape lighting. Not to get into detailed, as the owner doesn't pay me for the interior design consultant fee.

What turned me off the most was the homemade cinnamon roll. It is served without warming up! Although it is not a MUST or requirement, but when the roll is not freshly bake, then it can be improved by warming up. My friend and I both ordered the roll, and we both all thought that was not OK, so we asked the waitress about warming up the roll, she friendly replied to us that is not possible. WHAT??!! We sat there and waiting for the explanation why it can't be done. But she was just simply repeated the answer, it's not possible. I had a few second thought that I was talking to an AI robot; lack of feeling and sense of attentiveness. The cinnamon roll didn't deserve the title "Homemade!" it tasted like you'd got it from wholesale shop and sold it triple the price.

The drink, I ordered Flat White and Ginger lemon tea. They both were OK, nothing special. The tea was sour because there's no honey added which was already indicated on the menu, so I shouldn't be complaining about the sourness. However, the sugar served at the table was regular white sugar, neither brown sugar nor candi sugar. A barista that provides coffee or tea with the ordinary sugar??? Should this place change the name to bakery? Oh, sorry, they don't even have fresh bread or cinnamon roll. (I also can't imagine how the homemade scone would taste like) I looked at my other 2 frinds' food, I don't think I will order them if there is still a second time of visit.

It's just all these little details made the visit not so pleasant. The McDonalds Cafe in some of the cities are better than this. I definitely will not pay a visit in the near future, unless they can warm up the...

Edit: Nach dem letzten Besuch werte ich gerne wieder auf. Das unten beschriebene Problem scheint behoben worden zu sein. Ich muss sagen, dass man im Vergleich zum Baristinho in Aachen kaum ein anderes Lokal findet, das in der Preisklasse annähernd gute Qualität abliefert. Insofern ist man hier, wenn man gerne etwas alternativ isst, im Grunde an der einzigen Adresse in Aachen. Achtet bitte darauf, dass der Service auch stimmt. Dann komme ich an meinem freien Ruhetag Montags gerne her. Deswegen bleibt es beim Service erstmal bei der 3. Sollte es die nächsten Wochen so bleiben, revidiere ich noch mal und bewerte noch mal positiv neu. Aber OK, hier sind viele Menschen am Werk und wahrscheinlich muss man da Fehler einfach akzeptieren, vielleicht bin ich da sehr kritisch, aber es ist ja mein Geld und da erwarte ich eben auch etwas dafür und nicht nur gutes Essen, sondern eben auch guten Service.

Wir kommen eigentlich sehr gerne ins Barristinho, weil wir sowohl die Menschen die dort arbeiten, als auch die anderen Kund:innen sehr schätzen. Dort ist es immer schön ruhig und entspannt. Das Essen ist sehr gut und die Zutaten hochwertig. Diese Rezension ist ein Feedback an das sehr sympathische Betreiber Pärchen und wir hoffen, dass die Situation sich bessert, die ich weiter unten kurz beschrieben mag. Dann kommen wir auch gerne wieder regelmäßig, aber im Moment habe ich davon leider genug.

In letzter Zeit ist es uns nun schon öfter passiert, dass wir nicht das bekommen haben, was bestellt wurde und der Kellner, der immer sehr gut aussieht, hört leider nicht mehr zu und schäkert stattdessen mit Leuten herum. Nicht falsch verstehen, er ist sehr nett, aber absolut nicht bei der Sache.

Das Vorletzte mal gab es den Milchkaffee mit Hafermilch leider als normalen Milchkaffee mit Kuhmilch. Das ist aber leider sehr schlecht, wenn man davon Durchfall bekommt.... Ich habe den Kaffee dann vorsichtshalber probiert, da meine Frau keine Milch trinken darf.

Den Geschmack von Milch und Hafermilch kann ich sehr gut unterschieden. Wir machten den zweiten Kellner daraufhin darauf aufmerksam. Dieser war, wie immer sehr freundlich, brachte dann statt einen Milchkaffee mit Hafermilch, einen Cappuccino mit normaler Milch... Wir erhielten also doppelt das falsche Getränk. Da mein Latte Macciato mit Hafermilch war und ich keine Lust mehr hatte ein drittes mal zu Reklamieren, tauschten wir die Getränke.

Da ich aus Tierwohlgründen selber seit Jahren keine Milch mehr trinke, musste ich nun frustriert in den sauren Apfel beißen. Aber OK, ich hätte ja nochmal reklamieren können, ich hatte nur keine Lust mehr dazu.

Wir kommen ins Barristinho, um zu entspannen. Die letzten drei Male hat das aber leider nicht so gut geklappt. Zuvor gab es eine sehr verknappte Speisekarte, ohne dass man dies vorher hätte recherchieren können (kein Problem, kann passieren), aber die Ersatzweise angebotenen Pancakes waren preislich teuer (was auch OK ist!), habe aber wirklich nach gar nichts geschmeckt. Der Kellner hat zwar nachgefragt, wieso wir diese nicht gegessen haben, sie dann aber einfach eingepackt. Hinterher haben wir sie entsorgt... Wenn es mal Probleme mit Personal oder anderen Dingen gibt, kann man das doch mit dem Kunden kommunizieren, statt überteuerte Alternativen antubieten, die nicht mal annähernd an die gewohnte Qualität herankommen. Schade.

Und das mal davor hatten wir reservieren wollen und uns wurde gesagt das sei nicht mehr möglich.

Wir kommen von außerhalb und gehen nicht auf gut Glück Frühstücken, wenn man dafür in der inzwischen sehr Besucherunfteundlichen Aachener Innenstadt ein Parkhaus suchen muss.

Das ist wirklich super schade. Der Barristinho war für uns ein Stammlokal, aber uns ist die Freude daran im Moment vergangen. Es kann ja mal was sein, aber wenn man drei mal in Folge nicht das kriegt, was man für den gehobenen Preis erwarten darf, dann geht man eben nicht mehr hin. Konkurrenz hat der Barristinho in Aachen übrigens keine. Vielleicht ist das ja...

I went to this place about a year ago. Food and drink were good. I had overall a good experience with this place.

Today I came here with my family in hope of getting the same experience. However, i was shocked to find my party was completely ignored by the service. We stood there for about 10 minutes in hope of getting approach. But nope. They only looked at us from top to bottom, completely ignored us and went to do something else. I used to work in the gastronomy a lot and I completely understand that service can be a little bit slow during busy times. But to just completely ignore your customer without saying anything (not even a good morning) is a complete insolence. We saw the waiters were talking with the bartenders and really did not even look at our direction. My father got scolded for trying to find us a place to sit, but didn't explain to us that we had to wait or even tried to find us a spot. I don't know if it had anything to do with our ethnicity or something else (local customer was directly served) But this behaviour is completely disgusting.

I hope you could do better next time and I truly wish that this won't happen to...
