Nice location, but a totally missed opportunity & disappointment. The location is great to be honest. Right behind the entrance of the Dome and close to a small square connecting the backside of the Dome, the street to the Rathaus and some small other streets. The Jugendstil interior is cozy and nice to sit in and worth an eye to be honest.
Service is friendly no doubt. But the food is to be honest very basic & blend and I must say that having had dinner at the place and having the reviews in mind which were the driver to go there I was rather disappointed (not to say fooled). I'm not expecting haute cuisine when going to a restaurant, I love traditional good food as any other. However, I do expect that it is clear that the person in the kitchen or whomever in the restaurant actually takes pride in what they put on a plate. The pizzas are premade dough straight out of a factory on which the toppings were simply thrown out straight of a package. Without exaggeration, pizzas in any low cost grocery store have more appeal then what our kids got served... Salads are composed out of once again salad, pre-sliced carrots out of a pack, tuna out of a can and dressing from I have no clue which brand. Frankly, if you would take pride as an Italian in what you serve then this is far from how it should be. And if you even are unable to invest time and effort as an Italian restaurant to make proper fresh pizza bases, then it's a shame really. This place has some much potential. My honest and well meant advise: revise your menu, start working with real & fresh products and put some real Italian pride and drive in your dishes. If there is one cuisine that is so extremely simple but you can make amazingly beautiful, tasteful & impressive dishes in then it's most definitely the Italian Cuisine without too...
Read moreReview of Macaroni Restaurant in Aachen First Impression Walking into Macaroni, the restaurant feels somewhat dated. The interior, with its old-fashioned decor, and the clientele give off a slightly outdated vibe, which doesn’t immediately inspire confidence. Starters The meal started on a high note with the soup, which was genuinely delightful and full of flavor. However, the carpaccio with arugula was a letdown. The arugula was piled on excessively, overwhelming the dish and throwing off its balance. Main Courses The steak was a solid performer, cooked well and satisfying. Unfortunately, the spaghetti was a miss—overloaded with chervil, which gave the pasta an unpleasant, soapy taste that was simply too much. The tagliata toscana also disappointed, with oversized slabs of cheese and an overly heavy-handed balsamic dressing. Nothing felt balanced, and the flavors were out of sync. We raised this with the staff, and to their credit, they offered us a complimentary drink to make up for it. Overall The service was decent, earning a 7/10 for attentiveness and the gesture of the extra drink. However, the food was a major letdown, scoring a 4.5/10 due to the lack of balance and...
Read moreExpect for the Italian sounding menu there is no true Italian food in there at all and as a Italian and restauranteur it was very evident the lack of originality. We had pre-booked a table and were given the worst place in the whole restaurant. The plates we were served on were all chipped and cracked despite telling the waiter there was not even an acknowledgment. The pizza bases were from frozen products with toppings which had just been dumped on them. The most interesting pizza was the "Pizza Tutto" which instead of having an abundance of toppings had the least of flavour and a lack of toppings. Decisively over priced for the very poor quality. To make matters worse at the point of paying for the expensive bill the waitress made very and abundantly clear that she was expecting a generous tip of 20%. Very arrogant and undignified....
