Located in a prime location and across from a popular bookstore, these guys are blessed with an almost constant line of people standing outside waiting to get a table. Its been like that everytime I visited Aachen and obviously I was curious to try this cafe for this reason. The place is small and tables are placed close together. The deco is interesting.

Service left a lot to be desired during our visit. The service staff acted entitled and with a slight touch of arrogance, which I guess can easily happen when you don't need to put much work into getting new customers. The service is mechanic and there are no personal interest or friendly interactions of any kind, which is a shame.

The food was good, but I cannot say that I was overwhelmingly impressed. I had eggs royal with smoked salmon and while the dish was fine, I have had much more tasty version of this dish in other places, especially the bread was mediocre. Coffee was great and it arrived fast.

I gave this place 4 stars, but I could just as easily have given it 3. I will visit them again soon to have another interaction with the service staff and if its just as mechanic next time I will adjust the rating down...

Modernes und gepflegtes Café mit gemütlicher Atmosphäre. Reiche Auswahl an Getränken und Speisen das optisch ansprechend zubereitet wird. Die Karte ist viel versprechend, der Service ist zumeist lieb und freundlich, aber leider scheint der Großteil schlecht geschulte Aushilfskraft zu sein. Nach nun mehreren besuchen dieses Lokals gab es mehr als einmal kleine 'Fehlerchen'. Beim ersten Besuch bekam ich eine mit Schimmel überfallene Himbeere. Wenn doch alles frisch zubereitet wird, muss es doch mindestens einem in die Hände fallen und auffallen?! Himbeeren werden buchstäblich über Nacht schlecht. Dieser Fehler wurde schnell entschuldigt und behoben. Zweiter Versuch: Beim zweiten Besuch schien die Dame die mein Tisch bediente völlig überfordert, es kann schonmal vorkommen, dass man etwas länger warten muss, wegen Unterbesetzung oder welchen Gründen auch immer. Ich wartete lange, bis ich sie auf mich aufmerksam machte und sie meine Bestellung aufnahm, ich wartete lange bis das Essen kam, ich wartete lange (bis es zu lange dauerte, winkte ich sie erneut zu meinem Tisch), als ich noch ein Getränk bestellen wollte und zum bezahlen ging ich doch direkt zu meiner Kellnerin. In den meisten Gastronomie betrieben wird man mindestens einmal gefragt ob denn 'alles okey' sei, diese Kellnerin schien das Wohlbefinden der Gäste wohl nicht zu interessieren, trotzdem blieb sie stets höflich. Bei den darauf folgenden besuchen fragte ich nach Laktosefreien Alternativen bei bestimmten Speisen. Oft wusste die Bedienung selbst nicht, ob in den angebotenen Speisen überhaupt Laktose enthalten sind und übergab die Aufgabe der Küche. Gut gelöst, aber auf Nachfrage was denn dafür gebracht wurde, musste die Bedienung noch einmal in die Küche. Beim letzten Besuch musste ich schon wieder lange auf meine Bedienung warten (zwei in meiner Nähe sitzende Gäste ebenfalls). Die Bestellung wurde lau bis kalt serviert. Da ich an diesem Tag sehr hungrig war reklamierte ich es nicht sofort, sondern aß es leider nur zur Hälfte. Optisch wie immer klasse, nur war der Käse schon zäh. Meine Begleitung hatte ein Gericht mit Sauce Hollondaise, auf dem sich schon eine Haut gebildet hatte. Als nun unsere Kellnerin kam und nachfragte, berichtete ich ihr mein Anliegen. Die versicherte mir, dass sie uns das Essen sofort gebracht hatte, sowie es bereit war und fragte ebenfalls noch einmal in der Küche nach, die behaupteten, dass das Essen frisch und unmittelbar zubereitet wurde. Das Essen lügt nicht, etwas musste passiert sein (oder in diesem Fall eher weniger). Meine Bedienung versuchte den Fall zu lösen indem sie ihren Vorgesetzten ansprach, der mich und meine Begleitung auf ein Getränk aufs Haus einlud. Wir lehnten ab. Trotz all den Umständen, empfiehlt es sich dieses Lokal einmal zu besuchen, wenn man das Glück hat, dass das Essen ordnungsgemäß zubereitet und gebracht wird, könnte es besser schmecken. In der stillen Hoffnung, dass die Mitarbeiter in Zukunft in ihrem Job besser geschult werden, soll diese Rezension auch als Appell an dieses Café dienen. Der Service repräsentiert es, somit erfüllt es nicht die Erwartungen das man sich von diesem Lokal erhofft. Das Preis-leistungs-Verhältnis ist dadurch...
