Peter's gute Backstube — Restaurant in Baden-Baden

The food was OK, but I have to leave an informative review for future foreign patrons since they seemed to take advantage of the fact that we're tourists.

We confirmed at the counter before ordering that they accepted credit cards as we were dangerously low on cash on our last day in the country (and didn't want to have to get more at that point), and even showed the card we were using. They didn't have us pay at that moment though, and instead told us to sit down and they'd bring our food.

When it was time to pay at the end, the waitress then said they didn't take credit cards. My husband apparently saw her start to reach for a credit card machine in her apron/pocket before halting and saying they didn't take credit cards. If I had seen that, I would have called her out on it in that moment, but I was scrounging around trying to collect enough money to pay.

Don't take advantage of your customers who don't speak the same first language as you. We know what you were doing. If you had just been honest and said you preferred cash, we would have honored that and not been left with a sour taste in our mouths.
