The waiter was screaming at me and my Family.. with no reason. She woke up my little 1,5 yo baby, while the waitress was yelling at us. I’m very very upset about the service we received here last Friday 12 Sept. at 2:45 pm.
I came in and asked a waiter if we can sit outside at the table drink some tea with sweets we’re buying from their shop, she said yes, it’s ok. And I was sited and served with tea and some sweets.
Then suddenly that “evil” waitress appeared behind my back! And started Yelling right away at me., smth like that it is not allowed to eat sweets from their shop here at the table.. I didn’t even understand what does she want.. she was so angry at us.. but we didn’t do anything wrong. I was disappointed with such a behavior. we were just seated and served by another waitress, and she was ok, serving us good.
Other guests in the cafe were also surprised with this, you could see that on their faces.. it was so embarrassing. Not nice at all. .. I consider this as Service Crime against guests and the business also $$$. The name of this cafe - Kings!!??? This kind of service is not even close this word. The “evil” waitress refused to tell her name after the accident, telling that she has GDPR rights not to tell her name to clients)) ok. But what happens with my right to be treated as a human being and as a customer.?
*I describe the waitress, so other customers may be aware. She has white colored hair, short haircut, aged.. and not nice)
When I asked others from the team who is the general manager responsible for the service, they refused to tell that. And finally said that she is the main manager responsible for the service..)) that’s so sad.. if it’s true.
PS: from the business prospective. We ordered sweets for 55 Eur this time.) and she was just Yelling at my Family.. because of what? A bad day or smth.. business looses me, my Family, my friends, recommendations , friends of my friends.. and so on. Gets a 1-star review.. + loses future sales. €€
We were shopping here before and visited this place several times for breakfast, sweets. Spent several hundred here already before,.. and could spend more this year and next, and then.
So it will be some minus €€€ euro amount life time from the turnover from a business side, * multiple by how many times this kind of service happens.. how many customers are lost because of this waitress. and the service. the business looses thousands of Eur each year.
At this point I don’t recommend visiting the place.
Anyway, thank you for the lesson. Learned. I wish you all the best. Let’s take smth from this and make our world a...
Read moreCafé König, with its beautiful chandeliers and decadent cakes, is much like life…WHITES GO FIRST!!! Upon entering this esteemed establishment, we were greeted with barely a sideways look and after waiting for 10 minutes we decided to seat ourselves since there were a lot of empty tables inside. We assumed that the café was very busy or understaffed and that everyone was supposed to choose their own table to sit at. At this point, I should point out that my two companions and I are brown and were the only people of colour in the café (including the staff of the restaurant). In the first 15 minutes of sitting at our table, we saw that everyone who was coming into the restaurant was being greeted with beaming smiles and ushered immediately to their tables. Again, being tourists, we assumed that it was a language barrier issue and that the servers were more comfortable talking to people who seemed like they spoke German. Then, we sat our table for around 30 minutes and saw every other table being served before us. People who had come 15 minutes after us were being served their food before we had even been asked for our orders. Again, as tourists, we were coming up with our own explanations such as maybe the tables were served in a certain order or something. Finally, we were asked for our orders after 30 mins, got our food, ate quickly as the atmosphere was very uncomfortable with the constant side-eyes from the other customers and staff and asked for the bill. What happened next prompted me to write my first restaurant review ever. Our server proceeded to go to every other table in the café and settle their bills before coming to our table after exactly 25 minutes and settling ours. Now, of course, this being Europe no person of colour would be surprised by this behaviour as it’s more common than one would think. However, anyone would feel horrible if they’re just out for lunch with their family and have to deal with sh*t like this. Overall, if you wanna have some amazing cakes, are fine with some not-so-subtle racism and don’t mind turning your 30 minute lunch into a 1.5 hour anxiety inducing experience, Café König is the place for you!!!
P.S. Most of the people in Germany and Baden-Baden are amazing and not racist at all. A few sh*tty establishments like these are sprinkled throughout the country but the rest of the people are very friendly...
Read moreAppalling customer service. Avoid if you can unless you want to feel disrespected. We would give 0 star if we could.
We would agree with the other 1 star reviews. Sadly we got a very rude service and misleading information from both the server and the bakery staff. They failed to fully disclose the dine in price surcharge for the cakes up front. My wife asked for the price for an item to eat in and was told one price, with no other further conditions or difference in pricing for dine in pointed out at that exact time by the bakery staff.
When we received the bill, one item costed almost double the other one. These are the exact same type of sweets. We politely questioned this, the server then turned aggressive and started making attacking comments. He raised his voice at my wife in front of other customers. This behavior was unprofessional and made us feel uncomfortable. It’s one thing to make a mistake, but the way the situation was handled by getting angry at clients instead of addressing the issue calmly and efficiently in such an upscale place left a sour impression.
They refused to adjust the bill which funnily was not even much….less than 2 euros! For us it was the principle and the right thing to do for customers when your staff make mistakes by withholding the facts. Even after they fully recognised that they gave us wrong information when we first ordered, they did not want to correct their mistake. They also started laughing at us afterwards among themselves, not knowing that my wife understood German.
Now they are losing future customers like us who have just moved here, and could be spending thousands of euros easily over the next years. All because they can’t treat their customers right, over less than €2. We will be telling all our expat friends and local German friends about our experience and warn them.
I hope the management can look into this and ensure that staff are more transparent about pricing and respond to customer concerns respectfully instead of in a degrading manner in the future. If nothing changes, we would avoid it at all costs.
Ps the photo is of the menu, our item was not listed on here as far as...
