Went here for dinner last night as a bit of a snap decision. Lots of good reviews and the menu looked nice. Plus it was very handy for the hotel. Ordered the pork knuckle which comes with creamy mash and gravy, but was given pork medallions which comes with (a few) fries. I said that they had brought me the wrong dish and they asked if I was okay with it. Rather than wait another length of time I said yes okay, although I was rather disappointed not to get what I’d ordered. Given the dish came with (a few) fries rather than mash I asked if there was any mayonnaise. There was, but I had to wait a good ten minutes for it, all the time my food getting colder. When I got to eat the food it was nice. Possible a little overdone (and by then a little cold) but it was nice anyway. When the bill came I discovered they charged extra (80 cents) for the mayonnaise! That would be tight fisted enough, but given I only asked for it because they’d brought the wrong food it seemed cheeky and cheap. Then the waiter pointed out the ability to leave a tip when paying on the card machine. I shouldn’t have done but felt so strangely awkward that I did. In short, a nice place with a convivial atmosphere, but slow and busy service that you need to ensure they repeat back what you’ve ordered to you before...
Read moreWe were on holiday in Berlin and decided to have dinner at this restaurant near our hotel on our first evening. The atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were incredibly friendly, cheerful, and welcoming. You could really feel that the place is run by a passionate and dedicated team. And the food? Absolutely excellent!
There were so many delicious options to choose from, and we had such a great time that we decided to return on the last night of our trip. We were welcomed back with warm smiles and even offered a complimentary shot of limoncello — a perfect gesture that truly was the cherry on top of a wonderful evening filled with fantastic food, heartfelt hospitality, and a great atmosphere. I can recommend this...
Read moreOur family was visiting Berlin and we stopped here to eat after we got to our hotel. We were really impressed with not only the food but the service and the general atmosphere in the place. I am a ceoliac and they had gluten free options which was perfect. The prices were also very reasonable. We dined there for the duration of our stay and we will miss alpha house. We plan to return soon so we now know exactly where to go to eat. We would thoroughly recommend that anyone visiting should try them. Auf wiedersehen Alpha house, bis bald! The...
