We had dinner at CAYTRE and were absolutely blown away – from the warm welcome to the last bite. The owner was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we felt right at home and helping us choose from the menu with some great recommendations.
We started with the spring rolls with meat and chicken teriyaki – both were perfectly done. The spring rolls were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, paired with two delicious dipping sauces. The chicken teriyaki was next level – beautifully grilled, tender, and served over a bed of crunchy fresh salad with a sticky-sweet sauce that was addictive.
For mains, we had the egg fried rice with chicken and the coconut curry with duck – and WOW. The curry was rich, creamy, and aromatic with a good kick of flavor (without being overpowering), and the duck was crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth tender inside. The presentation was beautiful and the portion sizes generous without going overboard.
Everything was incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. You can tell this place isn’t just about food – it’s about hospitality and heart.

Read moreThis restaurant is right by a busy street, so forget the outside when dining here, it's just used to smoke 🚬, which kills the vibe entirely if the busy street doesn't do that for you. Our drinks and food arrived quickly, our waitress was really nice and the entire service was flawless, 5 ⭐ for service alone! Drinks were alright too, not great, not terrible, very much average for Berlin (which is good by many other measures!). The sushi tasted horrible though, cooked instead of fresh fish inside, it was falling apart and more fried fat than sushi. We were hungry, had a reservation and plans close by afterwards, which made us eat here. We didn't finish our sushi (we ALWAYS try to finish our food!), were out of here as fast as we could and would've been better off eating at home or a random kebab down the road. I know it sounds harsh but this was truly the worst restaurant experience I've had in all of Berlin. I felt really sorry to have taken my girlfriend here afterwards. No wonder we were the only guests at the time...
Read moreUnfortunately there was very little positive about our visit: First and foremost the quality of the food was terrible: The expectation with sushi is that you get fresh, raw salmon in the inside out roll but instead there was a bit of cooked, totally dry salmon in the roll - which is cheaper for restaurants than the raw product but for the same prices as other, true sushi places. As such it feels like a rip off and because the taste was so lacklustre I did something I never do: I left it uneaten on my plate. The staff also regularly comes out and smokes in their breaks which also detracts from the overall experience and the location is not great for summer as a lot of cars pass by. I can live with that as long as the quality of the food is good, but not even that was redeeming in any way I‘m...
