Café zur Alten Zicke — Restaurant in Berlin

On a gorgeously sunny day after walking some distance and having worked up an appetite we found the place we wanted to try was just too far away. However we espied this little place and crossed the road.

It’s really just a stop and we ordered a ‘sandwich’ each and sat outside in the quiet street. We thought this would just do us until suppertime. It was alright then we ordered the sweets. Not normally a ‘sweet eater’ my better hslf and I shared a slice of apple pie. !! It was that good I went an ordered another slice.

For a quiet stop off in Berlin this is a good place to go for a snackish bite.

Sandwiches were fine. Freshly made and pretty good. The person working seemed to be having a rough day and didn’t offer much in the way of greetings or information about the food. When asked if the sandwiches were big we were told they were sandwich sized. I...

Gehe regelmäßig dorthin und bin jedesmal zufrieden. Alle Speisen sind ohne raffinierten Zucker (Süßung vornehmlich mit Kokosblüten- und Birkenzucker soviel ich weiß) und aus Bio-Zutaten von der Chefin selbst zubereitet. Deswegen kann man auch keine Dumpingpreise erwarten, finde ich. Die Inhaberin ist außerdem Ernährungsberaterin und kennt sich total gut aus, sodass ich mich hier mit meiner Glutenunverträglichkeit auch gut aufgehoben fühle. Sie bietet zwar auch glutenhaltige Speisen an, ist aber sehr vorsichtig und ehrlich. Sie weist mich immer auf alle Eventualitäten hin und bisher habe ich auch noch nicht auf irgendetwas reagiert. Ich gehe vollkommen angstfrei dort essen! Damit ihr nicht langweilig wird variiert sie ihr Angebot immer etwas, also kann ich keine Versprechungen machen, aber neuerdings esse ich immer den kleinen Schokokuchen mit dem flüssigem Kern und Eis (natürlich auch aus eigener Herstellung). Beim glutenfreien Brot macht sie eine Ausnahme, das wird von einer glutenfreien Bäckerei geliefert.
