This was one of the most humiliating, xenophobic, and demeaning experiences I've had in a very long time. I was running late for my reservation, so I tried to call them to let them know. When I asked the man on the phone if he spoke English, he hung up on me - I still jogged to the restaurant, hoping it was a mistake. When I arrived at the door, the host immediately referred me to a very rude blond man, who greeted me with the most scathing sarcasm I've ever encountered in a stranger. I told him that I'd called to let them know I'd be late and I was hung up on, and he laughed. It was so overwhelmingly rude that I almost walked away. Instead, I sat inside for a few minutes wondering if it would even be possible for me to enjoy the show after that, but I left. And I couldn't complain, despite how outlandishly awful their behavior was, because I don't speak German.
This is the same company that owns/runs Knutschfleck. The restaurant staff there is way more kind.
But for the man that answered the phone? And screamed "DEUTSCHE! DEUTSCHE!" at me when I tried to complain? WARUM HABEN SIE EINE ENGLISCHE WEBSITE, DIE MIR GELD NIMMT, WENN SIE NICHT ÜBER DIE INFRASTRUKTUR ODER DEN ANSTAND VERFÜGEN, SIE IN EINEM BÜRO ZU UNTERSTÜTZEN? You rude, rude man. Have the day you...
Read moreBerliner rudeness at its pick, absolute mood killer. The place is not only over priced, the stuff is inaceptable unpolite. We had a reservation for two and after wating outside 20 minutes, we were received by the manager - who I believe was completly on drugs. He started to be EXTREMLY rude with the waiters first and directly after with us. There was a problem with our table and when I asked him, he said that he doesn't speak English. The manager of a bar in front of the most turistic place in the whole Germany does not speak English! And he indicated me this blaming and doing a very rude movement with the hands. The whole atmosphere within the workers there is super weird and, as a guest, make you feel very uncomfortable. For sure I won't come back, I was ready for having an amazing evening and the manager killed the mood even at the entrance.
Read moreA pretty place that I believe should be fantastic, yet the service when we visited was terrible. There was an air of reluctance to serve us, as if it was someone, else's job to do so. Then the staff all gathered for a team meeting in full view of us and despite still not having brought our drinks. It was 30 minutes since we entered and still not a drink to quash my thirst. Only once I stood and put on my jacket to leave, did my drink suddenly appear, albeit with a grunt. My wife's glass of wine was much harder, a full five minutes of various bottles being brought from the rear store, did the staff decide it was the right one, it wasn't. But we could not be bothered to fuss. We went to the bar to pay which took a lot of hollering from the young man before our waitress appeared. She seemed to really expect a tip, which of course was not forthcoming. As a footnote they were having some sort of event that evening but if you cannot serve your patrons you should politely advise them that they cannot be...
