Casa Beef — Restaurant in Berlin

I visited this steakhouse today to celebrate my husband's birthday. I had made a reservation a week in advance and specifically mentioned that we would be celebrating his special day. I also requested that they bring a cake or the cheesecake that had been highly recommended by the manager as a surprise after the meal.

To start with something positive, the staff was friendly and helpful, and as a general dining experience, it was quite good. However, what truly mattered to me on this occasion was the birthday celebration—and this is where the experience fell short.

In most restaurants where I’ve celebrated special occasions or observed others doing so, there’s usually some joyful gesture—whether it’s singing a birthday song or making the moment feel special in some way. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case here. The server brought out the cheesecake with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate, but the gesture felt cold and impersonal. They simply placed the plate on the table without saying a single word, which was disappointing and lacked any celebratory warmth.

Additionally, I had ordered an apple juice for my daughter, but it never arrived. I initially assumed it had just been forgotten and didn’t bring it up. However, upon leaving and checking the receipt, I noticed that we had been charged for the juice that was never served.

KaDeWe had a Halloween party on 26 October before 31 October or whenever Halloween truly is. The restaurant had no thought, intellect, or care to protect their own revenue by informing their clients that the KaDeWe staff will block off entrance to the 6th floor to enter the Beef Grill Club restaurant despite KaDeWe staff allowing customers to enter the the lift elevator for the surprise of being blocked from entering the 6th floor of the restaurant. This incompetence in Germany is shocking to observe. The restaurant could not serve customers due to a Halloween party by a seperate business and the seperate elevator lift which is specific to the beef grill club restaurant was broken forcing customers to climb six flights of stairs before their meal. This was really the worst experience from any restaurant I have ever experienced and I would like to discuss a totally free meal with the owner at his earliest convenience as this was amateur at best and unprofessional planning and communication at worst wasting my flight to Berlin from London and my taxi fare to KaDeWe as the U Bahn was also not in operation from uhlandstrasse due to crisis actor protesters of foreign quasi governments blocking every attempt to enter the restautant from all directions. Wo soll man da anfangen? … Kurz die Basics: Wir waren 4 Personen und wollten einen entspannten Freitagabend im Restaurant Beef Grill in KaDeWe haben. Der Tisch hat an dem Abend knapp 500€ gelassen. Für Steak-Liebhaber im allgemeinen war das Fleisch gut zubereitet. Allerdings erwartet man bei einem bestellten 300g (55€) Filet, das dieses auch serviert wird. In diesem Fall war das Steak nur 200g schwer, wurde aber entsprechend 300g abgerechnet. Beilagen sind sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig und stehen sehr Konzeptlos in der Karte. Man kann zwischen Pommes und Püree wählen. Freunde von Ofenkartoffeln mit Dip oder Bratkartoffeln bzw. Kartoffelecken gehen hier leer aus. Die Pommes, für welche wir uns entschieden hatten, waren mit Parmesan bestreut, was die Pommes sehr trocken machte und geschmacklich nicht zu solch einem Steak passt. Service: Sehr ausbaufähig! Die Bedienung war auch auf mehrmalige Anfrage nicht zu motivieren, öfter zu uns an den Tisch zu kommen. Was das monieren von Fehlern nahezu unmöglich machte. Die Bedienung brachte unser Essen in Etappen, da sie einfach mal Pommes für 3 Personen, Soßen für 4 Personen und Gemüse vergessen hatte, zu ordern. Diese Sachen wurden dann sehr leidenschaftslos zwischen uns Gäste auf den Tisch gestellt, als wir bereits am Essen waren ( Fleisch wollten wir noch halbwegs warm verzehren). Wir wollten nach dem Essen noch etwas aus der Karte bestellen, was wir der Bedienung auch mitgeteilt hatten. Doch statt der gewünschten Karte saßen wir noch 30 min. ohne bemerkt zu werden. Auch das Nachschenken einer guten Flasche Wein aus einem Dekantierer für 150 € hat keine Bedingung wahrgenommen. Das Restaurant war gut gefüllt und es gab nach unserer Einschätzung auch ausreichend Bedingungen, sodass man nicht von einer Überforderung hätte ausgehen können. Alles in allem können wir das Restaurant im KaDeWe nicht empfehlen. Für einen Tisch mit 4 Personen, welche 500,00 € ausgegeben haben, erwartet man einen deutlich besseren Service und Qualität.
