Female Barista Loudly Shamed Me for Asking for a Little More Milk

I’m a native German speaker but will write this in English, as the staff there seems to all speak English. I have been visiting this café on and off for years. Normally, I found the service quite okay. However, something very unpleasant happened to me this afternoon (05.06.23). Among other things, I ordered a double espresso macchiato, which I always get there. The female barista (relatively short, short blonde-brown hair, around 30) made it, but she was visibly stressed and put very little milk in it. Normally, the baristas there always put more milk in, so I immediately asked if she could add a bit more. She gave me a strange look and said, "This is not a cappuccino." I then politely replied that I'm usually used to more milk and asked if she could add a bit more. I also added that I could pay extra if necessary. But it was already too late; she stopped listening to me and started loudly complaining, "what a waste it would be, because she would have to heat up more milk again (What does that have to do with me?). She kept repeating this and some other stuff over and over again in a passive-aggressive tone, while she finally added a tiny splash of milk. So loudly that other customers were staring. I’m a small female, so I decided not to engage and just leave. But yeah, I’m shocked. I was basically loudly shamed for asking for a little more milk for a macchiato, even though I offered to pay more. (and I even gave a tip, before all that happened) Will probably not come...

I am very careful when giving a review because as a local guide, others depend on one's recommendations. Following the Google reviews posted for Chapter One Coffee, we decided to visit. To our surprise, the service and coffee were not great. First, the young woman at the counter rushed us to order the moment we stepped in. We asked for a moment to decide. We were hoping to get an idea of the types of coffees, roasts and brews. Once we were ready, the barista took our order with quite a negative attitude; in fact she treated us with contempt. We thought maybe she was having a bad day (people have those now and then), but we noticed her interaction with the other customers. Her attitude and service was truly lovely with others. My husband and I were the only people of color there. We felt unwelcomed. Moreover, the Cafe Macchiato with Hafer Milch was served barely warm; the coffee was acidic and bitter, and the design was one of an apprentice barista. The café Americano was also bitter, acidic and not served hot. The café has a nice machine and cute decore but not such great service. One of my favorite activities to do in Berlin is to discover and feature new spots. Sadly, this spot was lack...

Today I visited this coffee shop for the first time as it is my friend's favourite place. I really wanted to enjoy a cup of coffee so I asked a few questions about what they have in the espresso today and in the filter. The biggest problem is the girl who was very rude and annoyed at any question about the product she was working with and serving the guests. I asked the girl who served me to warm up my cup before she poured coffee into it, to which I heard "I know how to do my job". This is not an acceptable attitude to the customer, I was extremely unpleasant such an attitude as I just with sincere interest wanted to enjoy a drink in my friend's favourite place. The coffee was well brewed and they have a pretty good recipe for a filter but the aftertaste after this kind of behaviour no longer saved any taste sensation. I’m giving 2 stars only because my filter was on beans roasted by Johannes Bayer, who is one of my...

A cortado to die for. Rich, creamy, thick and smooth. And the joy of the rounded flavor can only come from a vacuum system

My favorite coffee place in Berlin. It’s little space with one sitting area by the window for a company and 4 more bar chairs inside, but there is also tiny benches outside.Since it got hype in recommendations for tourists it got its queues in high season. But it’s all worth it!Hand-brew is marvelous. All workers are lovely and really keen in the coffee art. They share coffee knowledge long and passionately which was great to choose some coffee gear(they have drippers and also choice of beans for your own experimenting). Also they got some real interesting coffee machine from 60s I have never seen before which is always a treat to see working) Thank you Chapter one !
