I had high hopes for Dieselhaus, a trendy German brasserie in an industrial-chic setting. The place has a well-crafted atmosphere—comfortable, stylish, and seemingly inviting. However, on a Saturday night, it was far from packed, which in hindsight should have been a warning sign. The menu is limited to a few traditional dishes, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if they’re well-executed. I initially considered the schnitzel but was put off by the steep €28 price tag and an extra €1 charge just to swap potatoes for sauerkraut—really? Instead, I opted for the Nuremberger sausages (listed under another name here), a pricey €17.50 for nine tiny sausages and a small portion of sauerkraut. During my visit, a couple left shortly after sitting down, complaining that the noise level was too high. When the bill arrived, I was surprised again: • 50cl of sparkling water turned out to be a pint of carbonated tap water: €4.50. • A small Weizenbier (0.3L): €4.50. • The main course: €17.50. In total, an underwhelming meal with an overpriced bill. While the setting is appealing, the value for money just isn’t there. I wouldn’t rush back.

Food Quality: burger was really nice. Very tasty and fries were also good and crispy. Portions: very happy with the size of the portion. Drinks: wines, beers, spirits, soft drinks. Price: $$ food might be a bit more expensive, but the barrel of beer is quite decent and enjoyable. Service: it was a big group so a bit chaotic from our side, but the staff still managed to keep a smile and do their best to make sure we were taken care of. Atmosphere: very nice spacious location. Quiet due to the location and very relaxing. Highlights: you can tap your own beer when you order a barrel. If you will order a few or a large one, always safe to pre order it so they keep one for you. Payment Method: cash, cc

I have been twice there: it is a bit hidden but part of the Museum Insel “neighbourhood” - great place to grab some classic German food after checking the museums or exploring Oranienburgerstr. The big bread plate is huge, also the back area us super interesting. The upper part/terrace can be rented for events, and you can order a whole 10L/20L beer Holzfass to pour your beer on your own with your group. Very big and cool place, somehow you feel teleported to London or Italy. I think the concept is pretty well thought through, so for once I’m not mad with the high prices or a new development in this area. (See Tacheles 😭)

So verliert man Gäste schneller,...

We hadn't booked on a Saturday night in January (there was just the two of us), so we were offered one of two small, isolated seats as literally everything was apparently reserved (even though there were a number of tables seating two or more that did not have any reserved signs on them). We kinda suspected that management did not want to allocated a party of two to a table that could possibly sit 4 for example and I reckon we were right. Shortly afterwards a party of 3 locals came in - who definitely hadn't booked - and were shown to a comfortable table that by some miracle was available.

Beer was good, but service dour and very slow.

Not to worry there are plenty of alternative food and drink options in Berlin to get a good beer and good food, so i won't waste money coming back here.

Funniest thing was when the waiters were laying out food on the tables near the old diesel generator in preparation of a group arriving, one of them started helping himself to the snacks...
