East Side Burrito — Restaurant in Berlin

I tried the burrito here and found it to be okay, not bad, but not among the top burritos I’ve had in Berlin. The meat, rice, and sauce could be improved in terms of flavor and overall balance; nothing really stood out taste-wise. However, what truly makes this place deserve 4 stars is not just the food but the hospitality. The person working there, originally from Afghanistan, was incredibly kind, professional, and welcoming. He served with a smile, took the time to be helpful, and created a warm atmosphere that made the whole experience much better. Estuve ayer lunes festivo a después del mediodía. La comida les gustó a mi invitado. Sin embargo, la experiencia general se ve afectada por situaciones que observé como una mala organización del lugar. Pagué por un burrito y tuve que esperar 24 minutos por un solo pedido. El problema parece ser que hay un solo empleado encargado absolutamente de todo: atiende, recibe el pago (en efectivo), cocina, sirve y hasta limpia, lo cual ralentiza todo el proceso y no estaba el sitio muy lleno.

Aunque se usan guantes por cuestiones de higiene, me resultó bastante contradictorio ver cómo los mismos guantes se usaban para manipular el dinero, amasar la tortilla, servir el burrito y limpiar las mesas. Esto, lejos de garantizar higiene, termina generando una sensación de inseguridad sanitaria.

Es un buen ejemplo de cómo, aunque el producto sea bueno, si la administración, logística y protocolos de higiene fallan, el cliente termina yéndose con una impresión negativa.

I was there yesterday, Monday, after noon. My guest liked the food. However, the overall experience was affected by situations I observed, such as poor organization at the venue. I paid for a burrito and had to wait 24 minutes for a single order. The problem seems to be that there is only one employee responsible for absolutely everything: they attend to customers, take payments (in cash), cook, serve, and even clean, which slows down the entire process, and the place wasn’t very crowded.

Although gloves are used for hygiene reasons, I found it quite contradictory to see the same gloves used for handling money, kneading the tortilla, serving the burrito, and cleaning the tables. This, far from ensuring hygiene, ends up generating a feeling of health insecurity.

Incredible. I’m from America, raised off Tex-mex cuisine (burritos, quesadillas, etc) and in Europe, especially Berlin, there’s a major lack of Mexican/tex-mex food. I had the chicken burrito and it was phenomenal. I was honestly blown away. The portions were perfect and the ingredients were fresh and well prepared. Tons of vegan/veggie options. Thrilled to go back. Legitimately may be the best burrito in Berlin.
