I was invited to Emira by a couple of seasoned Prenzlauer berg Vegans who are always looking for the best food in Berlin, and always deliver with their recommendations. I had no idea what to expect of this mostly sushi restaurant (plenty of other delicacies as I discovered later) and wasn't necessarily optimistic since most "yo sushi" type experiences had left me largely dissatisfied, but the moment I took my first bite of the salmon avocado nigiri, I immediately realised I was in for one of the best sushi experiences I've ever had.
The red rice was the perfect consistency and helped deliver the bombs of taste contained in the fried or regular rolls. On the starter side of things I was pleasantly surprised by the incredible crispness of the Lagon, this rice flake buttered tofu sticks were the perfect bites in combination with their well seasoned raspberry mayo. The yaki tofu was deep, sweet and intense. But the star of the meal had to be the coleslaw topped vegan tuna rolls, so fresh and juicy. The vegan tuna was a revelation, the perfect texture, with a subtle seaweed taste. The service was angelic, such a friendly athmosphere. The creamy coconuty crème brûle was the perfect end to this memorable meal. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of their dishes, I fully recommend this restaurant to all, vegans or not, you can be sure to impress anyone, and if you order the big plates, you get a wonderful misty theatre that makes the...
Read moreFrankly, coming across a place that has this combination of incredibly good food , interior and extremely fair prices is a once-in-a-couple-of-years experience.
Everything is freshly made with quality ingredients, presentation is next to none, and the choice is enormous.
We have come here for dinner and then lunch the next day. We gorged ourselves on too much food because everything is so tasty and we thought we would pay the price in heavy stomachs later on.
But no, the food is so well made and the ingredients so fresh that we didn't feel any adverse consequences, despite eating like pigs.
Even the deep fried stuff is so well done - crispy, light, not at all oily. And the little oil that you do feel, you can tell that it's fresh and not what has become a standard in too many restaurants - reside for several days or weeks.
And the sushi. Oh my god. Pho - fantastic. Miso soup - soul comforting. Tempura - yummy fresh crunchiness. Mango cheese cake - light and succulent.
Really a...
Read moreI recently went to this vegan sushi restaurant that left me in awe. I was surprised by the decoration of the tables, impeccable service, and surprising flavors. (Note: I am not vegan, so my expectations were not high)
The restaurant's inviting ambiance, coupled with the incredible decoration and thoughtfully arranged tables, created a peaceful retreat from the bustling Schönhauser Allee. I recommend the private-ish booths at the end.
The staff was very friendly, and attentive. Their warm hospitality added an extra layer of joy to the dining experience.
Regarding food, each dish was a flavorful, bursting with vibrant colors, and textures. Some of the ingredients used were clearly there to imitate the fish you would usually find, and I must say, I have no clue what I was eating, but they were as satisfying as traditional...
