Gippeum — Restaurant in Berlin

Great food with terrible waiting time. It’s pretty normal to arrive there, have several dozen more people after yourself, these people get the food, finish and leave, but you still won’t receive anything. It’s a very nice experience if you’d like to be treated like a second class person, maybe great to know what opression and discrimination feels like. But I just want to have food. 40 minutes waiting time disregarding the order complexity seems to be a norm here. And afterwards you will receive only partially fulfilled order, having to argue and fight for it to be correct. Life is pain and fight, so...

Auf der Suche nach dem vorherigen Restaurant bin ich zum Gippeum gekommen. Wie erfreulich!

Dieses ganz neue koreanische Bistro/Restaurant in Berlin Mitte erlaubt endlich den Genuss frischer koreanischer Gerichte. Die Auswahl ist zwar relativ überschaubar, dafür wird Alles im Restaurant frisch zubereitet und das schmeckt man auch.

Es gibt z.B. Mandu (Teigtaschen) mit einer großen Auswahl an vegetarischen Füllungen oder auch mit verschiedenem Fleisch. Außerdem Bibimbap, Salat, oder Japchae, jeweils mit verschiedenen Optionen. Das Kimchi war mild und frisch, nicht zu sauer, und war mit spürbar viel Knoblauch gemacht. Sehr lecker! Und außer der soliden Sojasoße mit Sesam habe ich die hauseigene scharfe Soße probiert. Diese war ebenfalls recht mild scharf und süßlich, schmeckte aber wunderbar nach Gochujang. Die Mandu sind super zart und die Füllung war hervorragend. Der Reis war perfekt gegart.

Great restaurant with wonderful food and friendly staff. Food was all around very delicious, especially the glazed ribs starter. Dolsot Bibimbap had proper crispy rice at the bottom, which is rare when getting Bibimbap in Berlin. Also very nice atmosphere in the evening.
