A really cool spot making cool, trendy and delicious food out of something that's pretty traditional.
I tried the Bärbel, krische and for desert Netti (which was my favorite). I was a little apprehensive about the "Indian" style Kirsche because I've had bad experience with Indian food in Germany, but the lovely staff sold me on it and I was definitely not disappointed. All three were delicious, very different from one another, and very tasteful. The two savory dishes came with some well portioned salad as well. I also had a cold class of rhubarb lemonade that was very pleasant and that I would order again if I go there.
The dishes are quite small, as is warned, but appropriately priced. It's true that once you start stacking them up it can get quite pricy but for a nice and refreshing meal with good, fresh, and quality ingredients that's somewhat too be expected.
The only thing that I was wondering about was why don't they have a good truck, since it seems absolutely perfect for that format, but apparently they are actually working on it...
Read moreSome places are overhyped, some totally deserve the hype. This one deserves all the hype 🎶. We arrived 15mn before closing. I went in first while my husband was looking for parking. The owner invited us to stay longer after 20pm (we stayed until 20.40 😱). I was first uncomfortable because I don't want to be rude and make people work longer than they should. But the owner was so friendly and adamant about our overstaying being okay that I relaxed and waited for my husband. The häppies were picture worthy (aka instagramable 😎👌🏽) and delicious. They were bigger than I expected and I wish I had a bigger stomach to eat more. My husband hates goat cheese, he loved the häppie with goat cheese. We will definitely come back for the sweet häppies when we travel to Berlin again. I mean, seriously, where do you find such great service and warm welcome on a late Sunday evening 🤔😍❤️🎶? It really was a...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite places in Berlin. The staff is super nice, and the food is delicious and unique!
This restaurant specializes in Germknödel, a fluffy yeast doughy dumpling. Traditionally these Austrian/Bavarian delicacies are filled with spiced plums, covered with poppy seeds and sugar, and swimming in melted butter. Happies does serve this traditional version (I think they called it the "Nettie") and you should definitely try it for desert; however, the creator of happies took this German dumpling and filled it with delicacies from around the world. There is one filled with kimchi, another filled with beans in a curry, one with gorgonzola, nuts, and honey, and many more.
Shockingly, many of these delicious fluffy buns are vegan and as a lover of butter and meats I was not missing them. Come to Happies on any trip to Berlin for a unique treat in a lovely...
