Ishin Bundesallee — Restaurant in Berlin

Ishin offers not only the best sushi we've eaten, but also a range of other super delicious meals we haven't found in the menus of other sushi restaurants. Luckily they already offer a delivery which until recently was not possible. I'm sure they have their reasons why, but it was definitely very inconvenient and made us try other sushi restaurants. I gave 5 stars because the food is reeeally good. To be completely honest though I have to mention that there are two things which have always bothered me. The first one is the ambiance - totally deprived of any Japanese touch and coziness. We've also been in their other restaurants in Berlin and only one of them has a somewhat better ambiance. It's a pity! I know it's Berlin and the people here don't care a lot about the ambiance, but still it would be so much nicer to eat your sushi in a cozier and more Japanese style surrounding. The other thing is the service. We were ordering and picking the order up to eat it at home because of this. Today was the first time in 3 years when we ate in the restaurant again and I was pleasantly surprised by the service even though still far from the famous Japanese kindness. Their food remains the best for us. If some day they decide to invest a bit more in the ambiance and the service, they won't have any...

I have to share about my first hand experience after the terrible experience yesterday evening in Ishin.

So whats been ordered that evening is a mixed sushi(happy time) and some other snacks, considering I just want to eat fast and enjoy a bit moment with family as usual in the shop. But it turns out that the all the fish looked so dry and dark, and the taste was also terrible, like chewing a piece of leather. The service told me that it's because it's late that day. Okay, in another words, she admitted the fish is bad...But there's no intention to renew the dish or refund

After disussion with my German friends about it later, the possible reasons: 1, the timing is not good, 2, there're a lot diners at same time, 3, I have asian face with bad...

After writing the comment below about how great is ISHIN, I have to write additional thoughts which are not so positive anymore. Short after I wrote my review, the team have changed. Rules obviously as well and it became not as great as it use to be. No more reservations although some people can do …tons of very stupid answers by the staff. They can give tables of 4 to 7 people eating alone and make families wait long , while they could easily put lonely people together! I keep going there though because food is still very fresh and good and my kids looove it ! But they should definitely make an effort for making the experience great again.

My Japanese cantine in berlin : it’s delicious and super fresh. My kids eat there row fish with any problems for years . It’s easy, not pretentious, fast and not expensive...
