completely rude waitress / owner. 2 tables were free in the sun when we arrived. first we sat down for one, so that the waitress would address us that we could not sit there, because in front of us was a couple waiting for a table. OK. no problem, we'll sit down for another one. when we sat down at the second table after 3 minutes the waitress came again to tell us that we can't sit at that table again because it is for 4 people. to my question if it would be possible to separate the tables, I just got a rude answer- no. She pointed us a table in a shade, which was at this point free to sit. we have to sit down where she says . when i said i don't want to, because we want to sit on the sun, she said: you have to! I dont have to, of course. We got up and said ok, we're leaving. then the waitress addressed me again with the sentence that we should all be happy that caffee is opened in the Corona time .... so rude! thanks for the service, never again. The table remained empty . the vocabulary of the waitress obviously has no polite words for the customer: neither I am sorry, nor please go to another table....
Read moreThis place is ridiculous. I pride myself on my waffle-making abilities. I have to say I do make a mean Belgian waffle, the only proper way, with yeast, let it sit an rise for an hour, etc. I have serious opinions on Maple Syrup. But this place takes waffles to a level I didn't know existed. The crepes are also very good. Especially their savory one, Neopolitan something or other....
I ask for a waffle with nutella and cherries. It's not on the menu but they'll give it to you with no problem. Shear blessed decadence :-) And everything comes with a beautiful cape gooseberry on the side as a garnish.
Napoljonska is also very child friendly, but seems equally popular with the indigenous, 20-30 something, Berlin hipster crowd as it does the under 10 crowd. I love watching how happy one pancake seems to make the little guys. It also makes me feel less guilty about how much I'm enjoying...
Read moreCame across this cafe on a rainy quiet afternoon just looking for shelter. But quickly ordered the soup of the day and banana loaf. I have to say, the food surprised me. I was expecting a standard soup, frozen veg, plain flavour, instead it was a large serving with loads of veggies, incredible herbs and spices, some citrus rind and pomegranate seeds, really savory and interesting! The banana loaf was recommended, and as a vegan gluten free option I was shocked - crispy outside, moist and relatively fluffy inside, but delicious homemade flavour. I definitely want to come back, and would try both a main and dessert again. Also love the music, it’s cultural and not pop driven so you can sit alone and enjoy or have a chat over and not be...
