My fiancé and I each had the thali. It was okay. Just okay. Not worth going out of your way for, though. The curries lacked spice, and the thali came with a Western-style salad of, e.g., lettuce and shredded carrot, as well as way too much tasteless naan. My biggest gripe is the whole place doesn’t know what it wants to be, apart from some vague gesture toward the abstract idea of fusion. The decor was tribal chic, the stools were made of bamboo, and a tiki mask with the word “aloha” carved into it was hung above the counter. And the food is Indian/Mexican/whatever. It’s on the same level as the air-conditioned beach shack in Bali, the next-gen cafe in Chiang Mai, the restaurant advertised by your hostel. I don’t understand the hype, is what I’m saying.
That being said, a guy sitting next to us ordered the daal soup with naan (€5), and that looked pretty tasty/seemed...
Read moreBeyond amazing! If you are looking for cheap, healthy and plentiful food, here is your place! Easily the best dinner I ate during my visit to Berlin and among such friendly staff and clientele. It’s a relaxed, cafe style restaurant with candle-lit tables and absolutely perfect for small group and sharing platters. There is no table service, and my advice is to forget the menu. Walk up to the counter and just ask your Sri Lankan chefs to surprise you with something. You won’t be sorry. My mixed Thali for one was a feast of vegetable curries, daahl, dips, salad, rice and naan bread. It cost 10€, tasted amazing and was enough food for two. Roti wraps and naan pizzas are also popular items on the menu. Even if you’re not vegetarian or vegan, you will enjoy your dinning experience here and feel great for eating some...
Read moreI went several times for lunch to this shop with my coworkers and I always thought it was good value and service was reasonably good. Unfortunately last time I went I asked for a lentils soup with cheese stuffed naan as usual and when I got the bill I noticed that it included an additional "plain" naan that came with the soup as a menu. I tried to explain to the clerk that there was a mistake and I wanted just ONE naan with the soup. He told me he asked me before about that so I told him it was a misunderstanding and expected him to correct the order, but he completely REFUSED to do so. Afterwards I learned that one of my coworkers had exactly the same problem. TOTAL RIP-OFF! If I hadn't had this issue I would probably have given this place 3 to 4 stars but this kind of service is completely unacceptable....
