Went in, the guy quickly helped us with instructions. After putting in a 20 euro bill, the machine didn’t spit out enough change. I was missing 8 euro coins. Went to see the guy, he fumbled around, told me it was impossible, then told me to call the owner of the laundromat myself, which I did. Owner asked to talk to the worker, who had suddenly disappeared. The older woman avoided me and I insisted the owner wanted to talk to someone. She took the phone and after hanging up, became unpleasant with me. I don’t know if the owner was bad to her, if she thought I was stealing or if she’s just generally a sour old lady. After trying to avoid it, saying the machine wasn’t broken, demonstrating it wasn’t by adding another bill in (I get it but I still got the wrong change myself), she reluctantly gave me back my change but put in 2 more coins in the drying machine without asking me how long I actually wanted. I didn’t make a fuss and just accepted the money and said thank you.
A few seconds later, another man was confused about the drying system (the time indicators are broken so it is confusing) and since he spoke English, I helped him. I think the old lady thought I was helping him scam her or something because she came over and spoke to me aggressively, telling me, from what I gathered, that I got my change and to leave all else be. All in all, unpleasant staff, unwilling to help or understand the situation. My clothes were nice and...
Read moreI was staying around the corner from this spot at the circus hostel, I was hesitant with some of the reviews I saw but my experience was really positive. When I entered and went to read the English instructions, the gentleman at the cafe came over and helped me without me asking. He was so helpful! I was planning to use my credit card for the card machines however you have to pay 50c for detergent and I didn’t have any cash or you bring your own detergent for the card machines. The majority of the machines are cash only, so I ended up walking to an atm down the street and then getting change from the gentleman and using the cash only machines. For those machines, you place your clothes in them, go deposit money into a kiosk, select the machine you want to pay for (the number listed on it) and then it will automatically dispense some detergent powder in a cup. You place that in the detergent cartridge and then hit start on the machine. Again the gentleman who I encountered at the cafe who was running the laundromat was extremely helpful and kind. Free wifi here too! Hope this review helps for English speakers! I would definitely...
Read moreWaschsalon 115 GmbH was just 17 minutes walk or 2 metro stops from Alexanderplatz (Blue line, U8 to Wittenau). The laundry is very close to the entry of the metro. Very reasonable rates, EUR 3.50 for washing, an extra EUR 1.00 for detergent and softener and EUR 0.70 for 10 minutes drying, EUR 2.10 for 30 minutes. There are approximately 11 washing machines and 8 dryers, it was quite busy on a Monday evening (18:00) but there were still machines available. Instructions for using the machines are printed in German and English. A 40 degree wash takes 40 minutes. What made this laundry experience better than usual was the fact it has a small cafe attached that serves a great selection of hot and cold drinks (profession coffee, not a coin operated machine) and cakes / pastries. Very...
