NEO1 — Restaurant in Berlin

The food was good but the service was unfortunately very disappointing. First of all, the server had an attitude typical to that of Berlin - unfriendly, unsmiling - and when she told me that they were out of what I originally wanted to order and I asked to look at the menu again, she rolled her eyes at me. Annoying, but generally not enough of a reason for me to leave a review. However, I was there with a friend and we both had our young babies with us. After about 30 mins of us sitting there, the server proceeded to tape a freshly printed-out sign on the window that said ‘No Kinderwägen’. Passive aggressive, much? If we had been in the way at all, I wish they had just asked us if we could push the buggies to the side, or put them in the corner, which we obviously would have done! But this felt blatantly rude, and was also unclear as to whether they really meant ‘no children’. We felt super unwelcome there, which is a shame since Helmholtzplatz is generally very baby-friendly! Very alienating for young parents, who I imagine contribute largely to the profits of cafes around here! Definitely would recommend staying away from this place, especially if you’re looking for a nice lunch spot where you can chill...

The place is always full so we decided to give it a try...we ordered a basic farmer's breakfast and a lemonade. Firstly, the service was super slow and kind of grumpy while taking the order. We waited veryyyy long for the food and when it finally came there were just potatoes dripping in oil and untasty scrambled eggs mixed together. There was no taste of mushrooms neither bacon, no taste of nothing just the disgusting oil. We have never had such a bad "omelette". For the first time, I couldn't finish it as I already had stomachache from the amount of fatty oil. The lemonade tasted also like some syrup with sparkling water. We really don't know why this place has such good ratings. One of the worst breakfast we have ever had... Bad feeling of your stomach for the rest of the day...

Wir waren dort zum Brunchen da. Zum einen war es sehr voll, aber gut zu der Zeit an einem Sonntag ist das auch zu erwarten. Dadurch das es sehr klein ist hört man oft die Gespräche der anderen Leute um einen herum, war aber trotzdem nicht zu laut und das schöne Ambiente lenkt da definitiv auch gut von ab (: Zu kritisieren war jedoch der Service, man merkt das dort zu 90% einfach studentische Aushilfen (würde ich mal raten) arbeiten. Man wartet (obwohl es gerade mal Sitzplätze für max. 20 Leute gibt - wenn überhaupt) 30min bis die Servicekraft einen bemerkt oder zu einem kommt. Vorne an der Theke durfte man natürlich nicht bestellen, da wir ja vor Ort gegessen haben und dann mussten wir erstmal warten. Es haben drei Leute gleichzeitig im Service gearbeitet, das ist viel für so ein kleines Café, da finde ich es einfach nicht nachvollziehbar wieso es dann so lange dauert eine Bestellung aufzunehmen. Zudem lagen die ersten 10-15min auch noch die Essenreste&Geschirr der letzten Gäste auf unserem Tisch und obwohl die Servicekraft mehrfach direkt an uns vorbeigelaufen ist hat es lange gebraucht bis etwas weggeräumt wurde. Am Ende kam dann sowieso eine andere Servicekraft (wirkte auf mich wie die Chefin) die anscheinend grad erst ihre Schicht anfing, die hat sich dann endlich um unsere Bestellung gekümmert und auch die Reste der letzten Gäste weggeräumt. Diese war auch sehr aufmerksam und sympathisch. Wir haben das Frühstück für zwei bestellt - könnte man aber eher als Frühstück für vier Leute verkaufen. Das ist wirklich eine sehr große Portion! Und für 32€ finde ich das auch einen fairen Preis, zudem war die Auswahl unserer Frühstücksplatte wirklich schön und auch die Getränke waren sehr lecker. Vom Geschmack und der Anrichtung her wirklich alles top! Preis Leistungsverhältnis stimmt auch (wenn man den Service mal weglässt). Man kann außerdem auch mit Karte zahlen, was ich praktisch finde, da man das bei vielen kleinen Cafés ja leider nicht kann.

Ich würde dort nochmal hingehen, aber dann eher unter der Woche, ist etwas ruhiger und vielleicht dann auch besser mit...
