Pizzeria Marienkäfer — Restaurant in Berlin

I loved this place! I happened across it by accident when looking for somewhere to eat we primarily ended up in the shop next door. We were walking down the street and being from the UK were shocked to see a convenient store with tables and candles and what's more it was full! So me and my partner decided to investigate we started by just having a beer sitting laughing as he never takes me anywhere romantic and here we were having candle lit beers in a convenient store surrounded by people popping in to buy a bottle of coke or a pint of milk. Looking around the busy tables we realised it served what looked like good Italian food and we soon worked out it was an extension of muckrackers the pizzeria next door. We moved next door as it was slightly warmer ( and it was minus 11 outside) the atmosphere in both areas were great. Both were busy and b9th had music that added to the atmosphere. The food was reasonably priced and me and my other half both ordered a pizza from the menu. We assume you could probably create your own but neither of us spoke good enough German. Best experience in Berlin! 😀 We stood at the entrance considering whether to go in and quickly a host came to assist. He provided a menu and before we could decide, another staff member asked if we wanted to be with the crowd or someplace quiet. We opted for quiet and were led down the street to the next door where only one table was occupied. Our waitress, same person that brought us to the quiet room, was outstanding. 🤩She spoke English very well and was both charming and efficient. She was helpful with our selection and extremely welcoming 👍from the moment she suggested dining options. The food was fantastic. Pizza 🍕 with burrata then panna cotta and chocolate soufflé. All was excellent and required less time to arrive than expected as they had a large crowd. Restroom was clean. 🚽Location is not difficult to find. 🧭We walked from near Friedrich station. Area appeared safe even around 9:00 pm when we walked back to hotel. I recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for great service and great pizza but know they have more than just pizza...

If you're looking for a good pasta and pizza place in town, Pizzeria Marienkäfer is definitely worth checking out! We stopped by on a Thursday evening and the place was packed, so I'd recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Luckily, our wait was only about 10 minutes before I was seated.

I decided to try Bruschetta for starters and the penne all'arrabbiata as the main course, and I was really impressed. The sauce had a nice kick to it and the pasta was cooked perfectly. For dessert, I couldn't resist trying the tiramisu and it was absolutely yummy. I highly recommend it!

The staff at Pizzeria Marienkäfer were very helpful and accommodating, although the service did slow down a bit when things got really busy. They accept card and contactless payments, which is convenient.
