I cannot stress enough how straight up awful this bar is on the concept alone. Whatever capitalist came up with this place should be given their commemorative cement shoes and tossed off their riverfront seating area. The beers change in price "like the stock market" of demand and... well the supply is fixed so it's just a way to extract money from you. Instead of demand/supply economics i guess it's demand/stupid/gullibility economics. I ordered a 0,5L Hef when the price dipped to 4,10 but by the time they put the order in it was 6,10. So basically you get the illusion of maybe a cheap buy, then they put the order in when it's not. I decided to lean into their scheme by asking the server about shorts, futures, call/put options, etc and he looked like a deer in headlights. If they leaned into the concept by at least giving complicated stock mechanisms to people like me, who know it's a scam, then I would have given it a pass because at that point it's like a fun game. But no, it's just steal your money shenanigans. I think my silly young friends found it charming, but every time i broke down the numbers on the "good deal" that was coming up, they were like, "oh yeah, that's terrible." So turn your brain off and empty the wallet then you're good to go! I had a spoon full of the tomato soup from my buddy and it was exceptional (i'm very critical of tomato soup, highly recommend), fair is fair on that point, but nothing about the beer prices are fair or entertaining to an adult who isn't in the habit of burning their money for a capitalist gimmick. Outside that bomb/fire tomato soup, this place is trash, never go again, don't recommend. Nice riverside seating. One more thing, their bathroom artwork is INCREDIBLE, must see! Don't buy anything, just act like you're going to sit down and check out the bathroom!! Sad state of affairs when the highlight of your resturaunt is where people deposit the waste/product from the kitchen, but that's the facts of the matter. One of the silliest places i've ever been minus the soup...
Read moreThis place came highly recommended by various people and while I felt it didn't quite live up to the hype, it was still a great experience and well worth my time and money.
There is a lot of beer on offer here... lots and lots and lots. It is sold on a stock market system - popularity of the beer changes the prices, like on a stock market. Now, we have a couple of bars that do this here in England but I've never been to them so the concept was pretty new to me and I must admit that I didn't really know what I was doing. Maybe making my first experience of this type of bar in a foreign country and language probably wasn't the best idea!
In the end I basically just ordered whatever I felt like at the time, regardless of cost. Hey, I was on holiday after all! When I did this and relaxed I enjoyed myself much more. All of the beers I tried were extremely nice, as you expect from a top bar in Berlin.
The food was good too. Nothing outstanding but still very tasty and complimented the beer perfectly.
The atmosphere was very fun and jovial, everybody was having a great time. The staff were a little rushed as the place was so busy. This meant that the service was a little slow but they were trying their best to cope.
Die Berliner Republik is located in a nice part of the city, right by the river. This makes it a great place to have a walk before or after your meal and drinks.
Overall I enjoyed this place very much and will definitely return upon further...

Onto the food, it was all good! Again really dubious as to whether we’d picked the right place but it was really good home made food, I’ll say even better than some of the supposed top rated German restaurants. I had the beef roulade and it was very good. On a final note, we had trouble all trip with tips. Most places either snatching from our hands or expectantly taking sometime a 7euro tip (when say the bill was 23€ and paid with notes) I really really hate this, but here, the server was so nice, so attentive and so welcoming that we chose to give the biggest tip of the whole trip! He did none of the above just gave a friendly service and expected nothing back. Thank you guys for a really good...
