I very rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share this experience to help others avoid the same situation. I had been looking for a cozy bar to celebrate my birthday with a small group of friends, just a few pre-drinks before continuing elsewhere. Primitiv Bar seemed like a good option, as their listed opening time (3 PM) made it convenient for an early start.
When I visited in person, the bartender was exceptionally kind and professional, taking the time to note my request and promising to forward my details to the owner. Unfortunately, my subsequent phone conversation with the owner was the complete opposite experience.
From the very beginning, she was unwelcoming and dismissive. When I asked whether I could bring a bottle of my favorite mezcal and pay a corkage fee (a very common arrangement in many places), she responded rather condescendingly that doing so would be like “bringing cheese to Switzerland.” When I politely asked about the price of their own mezcal, she avoided the question entirely.
I was then told that the bar would be “preparing” for a pop quiz from 3 PM until 6:30 PM — despite the fact that this period overlaps completely with their posted opening hours. I even suggested coming earlier or simply joining the quiz, but she refused both options, claiming there would already be “enough customers.”
In short, the message was clear: we weren’t welcome. The contrast between the bartender’s warmth and the owner’s attitude could not have been sharper.
I’ve since chosen to celebrate elsewhere, somewhere that actually appreciates its customers. It’s a shame — Primitiv Bar could have gained a loyal group of new patrons, but instead left me with a very sour impression of how they treat...
Read morei went here yesterday with 3 friends to have a drink and we seated at the counter. the drinks were really good but unfortunately the bartender was extremely rude. my friend tried to move a fan that was on the counter and going directly on her face and the person said a loud “no, we have to work here!”, then the other friend tried to put her purse on the counter and the person once again said “no! this can’t be done for igienic reason”. the reasons are absolutely valid but everything is about the tone and the way you say things. the vibe was simply off, we felt bad and...
Read moreAbsolute disgrace. We weren't allowed in because we were English. Other people were allowed in but just not us (3 quiet and nice university girls looking for a casual drink). We asked the 'bouncer' for a reason and he just didn't want to give us one. The 'bouncer' who was just sitting at a table eating chips when we got there said he'd call the police because we weren't allowed in and he said we just needed to move on due to his opinion. Ive never felt such racism and discrimination in my entire life. AVOID if you are...
