Honestly, after coming here from Vancouver Canada to see my cousin we had a wonderful time walking in the neighbourhood and ended up eating at this restaurant where she discovered a couple days back. Nowrouz Who is the manager and the server and the Cook and apparently everything else but suddenly not the owner he was so friendly he brought us everything we did and did not ask for at the end. He gave us a bill of €94 which is absolutely unheard of in Europe for literally four portions of food which was each half full. The second The moment and the instance they see Iranians from North America they decide to overcharge and my cousin who is German living in Germany was also baffled; this could’ve been the initiation of a loyal customer and a wonderful business, but there was a reason where this business was fully empty for every other restaurant around us was fully full; not only we will never return to this establishment. I truly look forward to see who overtakes the...
Read moreAround march 2015 I invited a berliner friend to try some of our traditional foods, Safran is definitely the worst persian/iranian restaurant in Berlin (at least among five which I have tried). Soggy and stinky rice. They just warmed a bowl of frozen sauce (fesenjoon or walnut with pomegranate sauce) which was almost boiling at some parts but had frozen pieces in the middle (typical microwaved food). The other sauce (Ghorme sabzi) was a complete tasteless one, with old herbs, overcooked beans and real fatty meat. Probably people are being served by precooked food from cans!! The prices were also high (considering the terrible quality, it was actually super expensive! ). None of the staff we saw that day were iranian. The only star goes to their very friendly waitress. Don't waste your time, money and most importantly...
Read moreI absolutely loved Safran! The dinner I ate there is in the top three best meals I've ever had -- EVER. I can't remember the exact name of the dish but it was stewed or slow-cooked lamb in a rich, savory sauce paired with cherry rice. Every single bite was delicious. This was the best food I had while in Berlin, and I still think about it from time to time and wish I could find Iranian food on par where I live now (sadly, I haven't). The staff were incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming to me and my friend, especially considering I spoke no German and my friend speaks on an intermediate level. Prices were also very fair and the food was well worth what I paid. The next time I'm in Berlin, it'll be on the top of my list. I highly...
