Sai Baba — Restaurant in Berlin

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sai Baba Indian Restaurant in Berlin and it was an unforgettable experience. The restaurant has a beautiful decor that transports you to India, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

The food was equally impressive - I started off with a delicious soup that was packed with flavor. The naan bread was perfectly cooked and paired well with the main course, which was the chicken vindaloo. The vindaloo was perfectly spiced and had just the right amount of heat.

To top off the meal, the restaurant offered us a complimentary jorda dessert, which was a sweet and creamy delight.

Overall, my dining experience at Sai Baba was fantastic. The food was delicious, the decoration was beautiful, and the hospitality was warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Indian dining...

Finally! Been abroad for a while and finally got to enjoy this feast again yesterday. Sai Baba and their staff welcomed us wholeheartedly and with the usual kind and warm attitude. I've been coming here since back in 2011 and have been loving the food but almost even more so the atmosphere in this cozy authentic culinaric gem that spares you all the glittery over the top decor that you're usually bombarded with when craving this sort of cuisine. I'm looking forward to many more times in this little secret location. Bring your friends, family, or go with your date... Neither will be disappointed one...

Wir waren bereits das zweite Mal bei Sai Baba, mit etwas größerem Abstand zwischen unseren Besuchen. Etwas verwundert bin ich über die sehr großzügigen Bewertungen hier auf Google, gebe aber gerne unsere Erfahrungen weiter.

Das Ambiente ist eher klein und dunkel, jedoch gibt es dafür keinen Punktabzug. Etwas ungewöhnlich war es für uns als Gäste, weil das Personal (oder der Inhaber) nur drei Tische weiter an seinem Laptop saß, während wir auf unser Essen warteten. Das wäre ja an sich noch verkraftbar gewesen, wenn wenigstens noch andere Gäste da gewesen wären, doch leider war das nicht der Fall. So hatten wir also die volle Aufmerksamkeit.

Leider konnte auf einfachste Wünsche, eine Extra-Soße zu haben, nicht eingegangen werden. Die Begründung war, dass man dafür ein eigenes Gericht kochen müsste. Das ist natürlich schwer nachzuvollziehen, da das sonst auch überall klappt. Noch nie wurde uns dieser Wunsch bei einem Inder verwehrt. Selbstredend, dass wir die Extra-Soße bezahlen wollten. Daran konnte es also nicht liegen. Stattdessen wurde uns ein komplett anderes Gericht empfohlen.

Und jetzt kommen wir zum größten Kritikpunkt: Geschmacklich konnten unsere verschiedenen Gerichte nicht überzeugen. Darüber hinaus waren die Portionen mitnichten sättigend. Der "Salat", der dazu kam, war auf einem flachen Teller super lieblos angerichtet und beinhaltete 2-3 Salatblätter, 2 Stück Tomaten & Co. Es sah einfach so traurig aus.

Sorry Leute, für all das kann man definitiv keine 5 Sterne vergeben. Wir kommen nicht wieder.

Fazit: Wenn man schnell den kleinen Hunger mit Essen stillen will, dass indischem Essen ähnelt, ist das okay. Wenn man jedoch authentisches indisches Essen und sättigende Portionen mit passendem Ambiente möchte, sollte man lieber...
