Maru Restaurant — Restaurant in Berlin

This is the best Korean restaurant I have ever visited so far in the entire of my overseas life. I went to the restaurant with my German friend. We were totally satisfied with the atmosphere at first, when Jeyuk-bokkeum(Stir-fried spicy pork) with Gyeranjjim(steamed eggs) came out, we were very shocked at the size and the taste with the neat culinary decoration for the second time! Samgyeopsal(pork belly, three layered meat) is seriously amazing!!! This is not a joke. The food was definitely out of this world and tastes really awesome:) It is a real traditional Korean cuisine, but the plating looks very sensuous and extremely refined. The employees were very friendly, she even showed my German friend how to mix bibimbab!! I have visited hundreds of restaurants for the past 10 years, This is the best taste I have ever known for sure. I gladly give you Michelin 3 stars in the Michelin guide. If I live in Berlin, I will definitely go there 3 times a week!!!! Thank you for the best...

I don't know what happened but I literally cannot believe this place has a 4.7. Food standards in Berlin are not great but still. Our tuna sashimi starter had no dressing, the avocado salad was just a whole half an avocado with a sliver of kimchi and the other half of our dressing, the pork belly had gristle in over half it (never even seen that before in my life) had to eat around it (gross) and it was saltier than the dead Sea to boot. I forgot to mention that this supposedly marquee dish treat was 18 euros; IN BERLIN!!!!

On top of that they do not take disreputable cards like VISA and MASTERCARD FFS.

Wir kehrten heute zu sechst in diesem Restaurant ein. Die sehr guten Bewertungen sorgten natürlich für eine entsprechende Erwartungshaltung. Der offerierte Tisch wäre für 4 Personen angemessen. Zu sechst - zwei davon sogar Kinder - quetschten uns regelrecht an den Tisch. Sehr unkomfortabel. Die Kellnerin war freundlich, aber nicht wirklich hilfreich. Augenscheinlich waren wir das erste Mal in einem koreanischen Restaurant. Wir waren überfordert mit der Karte und hätten uns Unterstützung gewünscht. Diese kam leider nicht. Die Dame gab leider auch keine Hilfestellung bei der Auswahl der Speisen. Die Vorspeisen, die wir wählten, waren die Etagere für 15 Euro und Rippchen für ca. 20 Euro. Wir wussten nicht, was uns erwartete, wurden aber auch nicht darauf hingewiesen, dass die Etagere nicht die geeignete Vorspeise war. Wir fanden sie völlig ungeeignet, da jedes Minischälchen nur jeweils einmal vorhanden war. Die Rippchen waren in dünne Scheiben geschnitten. Es war, gemessen am Preis, sehr wenig. Das Fleisch war sehr fest, überhaupt nicht zart. Enttäuschung pur bei uns allen. Wir hofften auf die Hauptspeisen. Insgesamt war alles wunderschön und sehr liebevoll angerichtet. Das Bulgogi war sehr lecker. Die Suppe mit den Teigtaschen wurde von Platz zu Platz gereicht und fand gar keinen Anklang. Das Bibimbab war optisch ein Hingucker, geschmacklich aber fad. Der gebratene Tofu mit Kimchi konnte geschmacklich niemanden überzeugen und wurde kaum angerührt. Schade. Insgesamt waren wir sehr enttäuscht. Leider können wir das Restaurant nicht weiterempfehlen und würden auch nicht wiederkommen. Schade um...
