Update: another friend of mine was harassed verbally at this place by the waiters.
TLDR: Worst restaurant experience of my entire life. Harassed and threatened by the waiter, and hair found in the food. Waiter verbally abused us.
I went here in a group of 4 on a Saturday evening. What seemed to start off as a new pizza place we wanted to try out, ended up as one of the worst evenings I’ve ever experienced as a restaurant-goer.
Food: One of the pizzas arrived quite burnt, but we went along with it. After finishing more than half of the pizza, I found a hair in the sauce, that was quite obviously not mine (curly and small). I dont know if it’s just me, but I lose my appetite rather quickly after seeing a hair in my food. I didn’t feel like reporting this or causing any drama, or even ruining the experience for others, so I just left the remaining half of my pizza. Decided not to go ahead with dessert.
Service: Okay, now for the main part. When we asked for the bill, we had to wait 25 mins. Once he was ready, we gently asked him if we could pay by card, and he seemed a bit confused as to what the answer was. He first said no, then he said he could try, and then he reverted back to a no. Then he decided, EC card was the only card option that worked. We gladly obliged. However, while we were waiting for the card to work, we politely asked, why no other card was working. To which we were very loudly shouted at us, and said, “you could read the sign at the door and not walk in next time”. Please keep in mind, at no point did we refuse to pay or create drama out of the payment process. We were just very nicely asking. We were shocked and I asked the waiter to kindly lower his tone, and that there was no need to bring this sort of attention to us. He then harshly told us that we should “just learn to read as it is written on the door (no card payment?) instead of asking me anything”. He also added, “I own the place so I make the decisions”. We were SHOCKED and I was frightened and scared by this aggression.
The waiter then called my partner the f word, (which I can’t type out otherwise the review doesn’t get posted). We were absolutely shocked!!!! Who speaks to anyone like that? I asked him to repeat what he had just said because I couldn’t believe it, and he threatened to call the police on us. This is when I started recording, just so we could protect ourselves in case we needed proof that he was indeed the one being aggressive and verbally abusive, whereas we were trying to de-escalate. I have circulated this clip amongst my friends to warn them not to go to this place, and they were all absolutely shocked.
He even said to us, “be careful what you say, you don’t know who I am”. Which was a threat that made me extremely uncomfortable.
The few people sitting outside, all heard the waiter yelling at us, and threatening us. What is even more shocking was that neither of his two colleagues intervened to calm the situation down. Maybe this happens regularly and they are used to it?
All 4 of us have told everyone we know in Berlin not to go to this place, and I will continue to do so (just as our recommendation...
Read moreNot sure where this craving is/ was coming from but I had this nagging itch in the back of my head that I wanted to enjoy a sit-in pizza again. 😁 Luckily, not far from the office this craving can be served and actually served really well! 🤤 From quite a few interesting choices on the menu the „Diavola Dolce&Piccante“ really caught my eye. I am generally a big fan of the spicey diavolo-type pizzas bit what is that „sweet“ bit they are talking about. I was very pleased when I found out how well sweet-sour onions go on a diavolo pizza. 🤩👌🏼 This was perfection and just what I needed to satisfy my desire. 🤝😁 To give you a better idea of what they have to offer I sacrificed myself and tried their „Mini Calzone“. Don‘t let them fool you, this is not mini at all! 😅 But it is an interesting dessert. What a fun visit! I enjoyed that a lot because also the service was amazing (Thank you, Marco &...
Read moreOne of those places you would like to keep all for yourself, yet you wish they will be successful. I’ve been here a couple of times already and I really like their pizzas! The choice of ingredients and their own twist on Italian standards is what excite me the most about it. (For example: look at those fresh anchovies!!! And the pickled onions in the Diavola were a most pleasant surprise!) The dough is good and fluffy, could be a bit crunchier maybe, but that’s just matter of taste.
The name of the pizzeria comes from Select, the traditional venetian bitter and their Spritz with Select is a really refreshing alternative to the usual (and way too sweet) Aperol. And believe me as a native venetian: it tastes pretty...
