We visited here a week ago today, so Thursday 5th August 2021. We walked from Steigenberger Hotel, near Berlin Hauptbahnhof, it was only about 2km. The Castle is on a Tram route M8/M10 directly outside along with Berlin Nordbanhof S-Bahn which is also opposite on the S1/S2 lines?

It's a corner place with a small park to the side, the front facing the road where we sat opens right up as the door/windows fold back and so for people watching it's a 10/10.

The staff, I detected American and Scottish accents were really pleasant and friendly and offered advice to others on beer styles. I had a Belgian Quad from White Pony? On reflection it was a bit of a monster beer to start with but that was my fault I think they are an Italian brewery, I know it's a Quad but a bit too much residual sweetness for me. Loz had a much more sensible Session IPA from Berliner Berg, good choice, refreshing, hoppy, really nice local beer.

I liked it here, it was a nice stopping off place when it started to lightly rain, though the rain never amounted to much and stopped as soon as we sat down, so more of a convenient excuse for a beer I guess. We slowly sipped our beers to a musical backdrop of Blondie - Heart of Glass and then Carole King with something from Tapestry.

The place was popular, I guess it's going to attract folks using the adjacent park,, those using public transport and people like us exploring the Mitte area. Being a beer lover, I think one area of improvement would be a bigger more varied range on tap and perhaps a better choice of bottled or canned beer in the fridges. Other than that a fine choice for a...

I used to go an a weekly basis there. I stopped after Nora, the blonde waitress and manager, harassed my group claiming that we did not order anything. We showed her the drinks but she asked us to move to another table. When we did, she harassed us again claiming that we were not supposed to move the chairs that were standing next to a wall and stay normally unused. After a couple of minutes she came back and put a reservation sign on our table despite the fact that the table was already beeing used. The owner came later to remove it. She then was a rude to another friend of mine when his dog tried to play with her. She asked him rudely to stop and sweared on the way back. I will never come here again. These forms of rudeness and harassment have taken place unfortunately multiple times and mostly with this waitress. I hope the owner will take care of the situation because this place would be great otherwise.

Best Regards A former customer

ADDENDUM

For the readers, unfortunately it seems that Nora is in charge of replying to the reviews when it seems that she barely has control over her behaviours... The idea that we disregarded the house rules is simply not true but I also understand that a random excuse must be used in this situation to save one's face. I hope the owner will take care of that because the rest of the staff has always been...

Nice place. All civilised folk are made welcome. Just like any place - from plumbers to hairdressing boutiques and International Space Station Resupply - when there's a surge of demand waiting time increases.

If organisations employ extra staff 'just in case', prices would have to be increased to pay their wages.

Do the reporters who moan (or laud) about service delays not understand this? People shouldn't condemn things after just one visit. Would they like their own work to be judged from just one surprise inspection?

My own view is that the staff work really hard and efficiently. The place is clean and well designed. The toilets are kept clean and functional, music is well chosen and played at the right volume. Said music is enjoyable and one can have a normal conversation without having to shout.

Overall, a cool and pleasant bar with a large selection of available booze. Children and pets dogs are welcome. It doesn't pretend to be an haut-cousins restaurant, but neither does it attract tramps.

And NO, I have no connection with the place at all. Simply an honest review and a whine at idiots who vent their sardonic little comments with no real experience of venues.

I behoves you to take a look at other 'reviews' that the complaints have made.

Rant over!!! Time...

The Castle Bar in Berlin Mitte is a cozy, inviting spot with a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a long day. The bar offers a great selection of craft beers, cocktails, and fine whiskeys, catering to a variety of tastes. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, making sure you feel welcomed. The rustic décor, complete with wooden furnishings and dim lighting, adds to the warm ambiance. Whether you're looking for a laid-back evening with friends or a solo drink, the Castle Bar is a hidden gem in the heart of Mitte.

Great craft beer bar. 20 beers on tap (15 craft(y) options with a definite emphasis on IPAs and 5 standard offering with 1 cider). They also had a thoughtful selection of bottles. Great music on a Friday night. You could easily talk but the music filled in all the empty space quite nice. Great sound system. Downstairs had more space with different music playing which was highly danceable and the intent. Our servers were super friendly and knowledgeable! Gwen was particularly awesome and helpful!

A very hip pub in Berlin Mitte. The staff here speaks English as their first language. That's always a plus for me as a native English speaker. Monday evening and the place was packed and buzzing. Really enjoyed the drinks and there vibe at this place. Didn't even feel like we had a pandemic going on. The place abides by the 2G rule and checks for the vaccination status before letting you in. So if you're jabbed and boosted, go and have a great time.
