Aroy Restaurant — Restaurant in Berlin

My favorite Thai restaurant in Berlin so far! The green curry is amazing! The veggies are cooked in the spot and the flavor is super tasty and authentic! The last time I had such a great green Thai curry was in Australia in 2013! So very happy to have found a happy place also in Berlin. I also ordered it Thai Spice which had the perfect spice level for me - you notice it but it doesn’t ruin the taste.

We also ordered a soup with shrimps and lemon grass - it was absolutely delicious! The only recommendation I have to add some more shrimps. We only had 3 in it - at least 5 would have been nice. Nevertheless the taste buds were tickling!

My family had Udon Noodles with Crispy Duck and Beef salad and all of them had been very happy!

For dessert we had a wonderful Mochi dessert with berries which had been the cherry on the cake. Their ice teas are highly recommended, too! The Aroy Ice Tea has a refreshing and tasty flavor.

And all this great food for very good price!! Not expensive at all!

Besides the food, the waiter was super friendly and the atmosphere friendly and accommodating. The light instrumental piano mix in the background made the atmosphere quite relaxing. I also liked that the toilet has been very clean, a rare thing in Berlin!

Overall, a good experience. Staff were really friendly, nice environment and definitely good quality food. I can definitely recommend the crispy duck curry, very good! The biggest criticism I have is the level of spiciness in their food. We basically order every dish in their menu marked with a chili 🌶️ (indicating it was a hot/spicy dish), and to be honest, none of them were spicy at all… that’s quite disappointing when you eat at a Thai restaurant. I asked for hot sauce on the side, but they only had Sriracha (which is of course better than nothing) I understand restaurants tend to adapt to the local’s palate, but this was absolutely 0 spicy, I find it might be too much of...

The experience was a bit underwhelming, especially considering the glowing reviews and high rating.

While the portion sizes were generous and the presentation was beautifully done, we found 3 out of the 4 dishes lacking the bold flavours that Southeast Asian cuisine is known for. The ambiance is stylish and the decor chic, with a great overall vibe. Service was efficient, though a warmer approach from the staff would have enhanced the experience.
