Disappointing and exceptionally bad service . Saw this place on tik tok for Italian food recommendations. They didn’t inform us that it was “CASH ONLY” until we tried to pay with a card at the end of our meal. It does nor say on their instagram, website , menu or anywhere in their restaurant that it was “cash only”. In fact, it says on their google/apple business page that they DO have contactless payment. Service was incredibly disappointing and felt like it had something to do with the fact that we were American tourists. Although American tourists, we pride ourselves in being quiet and polite customers who try to enjoy local culture as if it was our own and try to stay clear of the American tourist stereotype. Service was blatantly unwelcoming, unfriendly and disappointing. The waiter came by and we said “we’d like to order please” and he said “order what?” as if we weren’t at a restaurant and he hadn’t taken our drink and appetizer order… We waited over an hour for our entrees to come out, only to see that in the mean time, our waiter sitting at a table next to us enjoying HIS dinner with HIS friends. Experience was overall terrible and food did not stand out either. The menu is nothing special and not worth it/didn’t make up for the terrible experience. And SKIP this place if you are tempted by the cheese wheel and are looking for the table side experience where they make your truffle pasta in the wheel in front of your table. They did not do...
Read moreBack in Berlin last October and again in November. My first and last stop and a few more in between. :-) I had the linguine with truffle again as soon as I arrived. Then I had the arrabiatta (with spaghetti instead of penne) for lunch the next day. This has got to be my favorite. That's why I had it again the day I left Berlin.
Oh, and the beer. I love the craft beer from a micro brewery in Quedlinburg (see photo).
The staff has also been amazing, remembering me from 6 months back. I'm not surprised because I was there quite a bit then as as well. Still, it's very sweet to feel at home when you're visiting.
I love the family vibe of the place during lunch and dinner. The two times I had lunch there, there were people celebrating their birthdays. The night I had dinner there, a famous and well loved politician was also there. :-) People did stay after dinner for some drinks so it was merry til midnight.
So, yes, when I'm back in Berlin, I will be back for my dose of tummy happiness at...
Read moreOverall, a poor experience! Upon sitting down and receiving the menus, our order wasn’t taken for 20 minutes. When we wanted to order a glass of white wine they had run out, we wanted to order fish but they had also run out that. Our two starters and two mains took a long time to arrive. About 20 mins per course. The Vitello tonnatowas great and so was the burata but the Bolognese was so salty it was inedible. When I wanted to pay I was told they’d only take cash, PayPal (???) or the local banks debit card which you can only have if you have a German bank account. I’d understand that if I was ordering in a small local restaurant that only runs seasonally on the beach somewhere but not for a restaurant in Berlin that’s open year round where the bill comes to 83€ for two mains and two starters and a bottle of sparkling water. The restaurant is understaffed for which I don’t know the circumstances. Get yourself a...
