Trattoria Pizzeria San Nicola — Restaurant in Berlin

ITALIANS WOULD CRY!!!

The location of the restaurant is perfect. And that’s the only positive thing I can mention. My apfelschorle had no gas in it, but at this time I didn’t know, this will be my smallest problem during the meal. The bruschetta was not italian at all, the bread wasn’t toasted, it was soft and wet from of the unseasoned tomato. No basil, no pepper, little salt, little olive. No taste at all. The salmon-tagliatelle had sea-taste, also wasn’t seasoned well. One of us ordered a pizza capricciosa, but of course she got something else. 10 minutes later she got her right pizza, the reason of the fast service was the pizza dough for sure. It was more like a bread than a pizza. It was like a 15 years old kid’s try for his first self made pizza dough. I’ve never salted a pizza in my life. Until today. If we want to pay separately, we can’t pay with card, just cash. I don’t understand the reason, the cashier system is able for that for sure.

I wanted with a friend of mine to have a drink and some dessert on a Sunday afternoon around 20:00h and after siting on a 2 people table we wanted to order but when we said we want no dinner (pizza, pasta etc.) but just some drinks and a dessert we were told by the lady waitress that is not ok, as they need the table for people who would buy dinner (there were 2 or more tables still free) and they will not serve us if just buying dessert and drinks. I mean dessert is 8-8,50 eur and drinks same around 8 - 8,50 eur and I would argue is not exactly nothing, in terms of money. I was visiting that place from time to time because food is decent and is nice to sit near the river but I find this way of treating customers unacceptable. Never...

When I found it I was confused by the mixed reviews, so now here's my conclusion. fantastic location, just gets a bit cold from wind I feel like they really prefer if you try to speak German, so staff could've been mean, but it was also fairly empty asked for water and got a tiny 2,5 euro bottle (ordered cream and brocoli penne) food was great on the first bite, but by the end I finished I almost wanted the taste out of my mouth...

So it is exactly between good and bad, perfectly 3 stars. I guess it's mixed because noone who feels impartial to it tends to...
