Sadly this one wasn't a hit. It's right by the Spree with a few tables outside and a larger cozy indoor area. We were scoping this place out for a larger party (10+ people), but would have to sit inside since the outdoor seating is only separate 4-person tables. Regardless, my date and I decided to try it anyway and sat outside even though it was fairly overcast. The view of the Spree isn't spectacular, and there is a banner on the railing that blocks the view for most of the tables. We saw the seasonal menu had Schnitzel vom Schwein mit Spargel, so we got one of those as well as a chicken Schnitzel from the regular menu. When everything came out, it looked a little underwhelming. The sides (halved potatoes for me and French fries for my date) were minimally seasoned, and the schnitzel itself didn't have much in the way of flavor. Even the Champignonsrahm was a bit bland as noted by my date. The Spargel seemed okay with the Hollandaise, but other than that, everything could have used a little more seasoning or pizzazz of some kind. The service was friendly enough, but the food and atmosphere could have been better, which is a shame because I had high hopes for this one. There's an adjoining distillery and even a museum, so I guess there's more to do and maybe the restaurant is just an amenity to those. So if you're looking for a great German meal (or are with a larger party), there are a few other places along the river that may be better. But if you're here for the museum/distillery, the restaurant is a solid choice for a...
Read moreFood was ok, I did take currywurst for the first time. But service was not that great, welcoming went good but everything else did not so great. I think I somehow offended my waiter with the food that I picked out 'cause he started to speak in deutch with other staff member and I know little bit deutch (this the waiter didn't know). I'm sure that he said something about that he doesn't understand why to come here to eat currywurst when you can get it everywhere else. I looked them, he did lower his voice after he noticed that and asked his coworker come with him to outside. He asked another customers would they like to have dessert or coffee but not from me after I was finish eating. After the waiter took dessert order from another customers he went back with that order and when he was where that couple couldn't see him, he did imitate them and sighed deeply. It took maybe 10-15 minutes to get attention then I did get it from the another waiter and asked about the bill 'cause I didn't want any dessert anymore from here. I felt I was treated differently 'cause of my "cheap" choice of currywurst and coca cola (it was pepsi). But it was nice that they did spoke english to me and I liked how the...
Read moreHORRIBLE EXPERIENCEâŒïž DONâT GO, ITâS A SCAM. Blonde mid-age waitress didnât want to show the ticket when asked for it after paying, she added âyou know thereâs a service fee right?â but kept refusing showing the receipt. After insisting, we found out she automatically added as her tip 4⏠and also charged 7⏠for a 0.75 cL water bottle (we didnât ask for the price when it was offered and understood it could be a little overpriced, but this was next level scam). Crazy experience because the service till then was good and food not bad (but kinda overpriced for the quality). We ate inside, so no âspecial viewsâ that could justify this.
If youâre a tourist, be aware of this, weâve aten in other places in Berlin and none of them had this âautomatic invisible service feeâ and âliquid gold waterâ, donât support this kind of scam businesses. We trust reviews and would love to have been...
