I visited this place last Saturday night, for the birthday party of one of my friends. I will say firstly that the pub itself actually is not inherently bad, it has quite a nice atmosphere, and I had a nice night there with our group for hours up until the last ten minutes. It was the attitude of the barman in this last segment that ruined my night. We were all slowly paying and heading out and so I went to the bar, he faffed about moving a small keg for a couple of minutes and eventually came over to me, I told him what I had and he told me the amount. I said I wanted to pay by card (and they have a card machine) but suddenly his demeanour changed and he became offended and he asked me ‘How long have you lived here?’ and told me ‘If I come to your country I have to adapt to your culture’. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, this is no way to talk to a customer. It should be up to me how I want to pay, what is cultural about it? Tax dodging is Berlin culture? I even had coins which I was going to give him for tip, if that was his concern… and if it was about card processing fees, well that’s just a cost of doing business, and besides he’s just the barman so why would he care? I was not happy but I didn’t feel like arguing with this individual so I went to the ATM around the corner and it ate my card and broke. Of course this is not the fault of the pub but if this person barman had not insisted I pay in cash then I would also still have my card. Due to this incident I will never come back and would never encourage anyone else to...
Read moreYesterday i was taking a walk in berlin center town and i stopped to have a hotwine and a bratwurst. Everything was ok, for a bratwurst there is no big deal. When i wanted to pay, i saw the bar has the machine for creditcard payment but when I asked the bartender only accepted cash. I understand that a lot of local bars only want cash but when you have the service. Why to refuse it? When you are a visitor not necessarily you have cash and even though its easier and more practical this service. For sure i would consider next time to go to another place than this bar. And for this topic i...
Read moreA pleasant place to visit during your stay in Berlin, they offer great beers with normal prices, considering the fact that it is in the old town. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, sitting outside feeling the cold breeze from the Spree, they also put on football matches, which is always a benefit. The food could be a little bit better, I’ve ordered a Boulette und Pommes, the fries were all right, but the meat was mediocre, considering the 9,50€ price tag I was a little bit disappointed. It also has free toilets, which is rare in Berlin. Overall good experience, I’d love...
