Viet Rice — Restaurant in Berlin

I went to try and use a Groupon voucher. You have to book in advance, but I called the day before and couldn't get any sense out of them. I went at approximately 1300 on Tuesday and at first the man at the cash desk tried to send me away, telling me to come back after 1500. I managed to speak to a lady who told me to take a seat and she would accept my voucher. I waited over 20 minutes before anyone came over to me. They asked if I was ready to order, but they hadn't given me a menu! Thankfully I'd checked on line and ordered 2 cocktails as per my Groupon voucher. It took a good 15 minutes for the first cocktail to come out and a further 15 minutes for the second. By the time it arrived, I had to practically down it in one as I had a prior engagement and didn't realise it was going to take a whole hour to get served 2 drinks. Unfortunately the place is a scam with very poor food quality.

I ordered tofu summer rolls and chicken curry, however, i ended up being served shrimp summer rolls and deep-fried chicken curry instead. Both items, apart from being not what I ordered, coincidentally also turned out to be more expensive.

The summer rolls tasted like nothing and were falling apart. The deep-fried chicken curry was truly sad: despite the curry sauce and veggies being quite yummy, there was barely any chicken in it, mostly just breading.

The concept of the place is also quite weird: they position themselves as a Vietnamese restaurant, however, Vietnamese dishes make up 10% of the menu at most, the rest is sushi.

All in all, definitely wouldn’t...

We had a lovely meal with friends here to end our working week. We have been waiting for months for this to open, so we had high expectations and our new Viet Rice restaurant scored 10 out of 10 for everything. The food was amazing as all our meals and starters were perfectly prepared, arrived fast and were hot, fresh and tasty. The service was fun and friendly, plus the prices gave value for money. The atmosphere inside is complemented with the decor. We all noted the meals that we had as we intend to be regulars and try everything on the menu. Looking forward to...
