The lady with the glasses who seems to be in charge of the store is really rude and grumpy. I was new at the area and happened to go there at the beginning of the week when the medical masks became compulsory. Unfortunately, I was not aware of this new regulation so I was wearing my usual tissue mask. The lady looked at me in a strict and bossy manner and started telling me that I was wearing an inappropriate mask, that I shouldn’t had come in in the first place and next time I go to their store without a medical mask they will not let me in...!! What an uncivilised and unprofessional manner to speak to your clients... plus speaking to me with Du and not Sie like she knew me from before... I explained to her that I was not aware of the regulation and was sorry about that. She looked at me a bit stunned and then said in an ironic manner ‘oh, so then we informed you...’ and then again ‘but next time we will not let you in...’ Well, guess what, after this I am NOT ever coming back and will not leave a penny to a store that cannot appreciate their clients. Honestly, there are so many other bakeries around the corner - Lindner right next is fantastic! The personnel there knows how to treat and assist their clients. My kind feedback to your store management for this lady: while the products you sell are important, the customer service is always one of the top factors that impact how shoppers perceive your brand. You’d rather leave your ego issues at home and treat your customers with some respect which is actually part...
Read more+++ Food waste +++ yesterday I bought two cinnamon rolls and as the woman working behind the counter was wrapping them up, I noticed that she threw one of the cinnamon rolls in the trash and replaced it with another one. Naturally, I asked why she threw it away and she told me that when a cinnamon roll is not perfect looking (the one in question was a little smaller and was falling apart at the edges, otherwise it was fine), they have the policy to either throw it away or sometimes give it away for free. As I wasn‘t even asked whether I would like to have it for free, I doubt that’s really true - even if it were true however I‘m still confused as to why they don‘t just ALWAYS give them away or sell them half-price. Even worse - why not give them to charity (Tafel etc.)?? I understand Zeit für Brot wants to maintain a good image and only sell good quality (I guess perfect looking) product to its customers, but I would have hoped this includes minimizing food waste…I‘m sure there could be a better solution to not selling perfect looking cinnamon rolls other than throwing them away point...
Read moreOnly tried two cakes: The cheese cake was delicious and walnut-maple yeast cake is absolutely, hands-down to-die-for and most delectable. I have been dreaming of it ever since I ate it and must make my way back to the bakery to eat it once again ASAP.
Update to review: I was so excited today to bite into the beloved walnut-maple yeast cake at Zeit Fur Boot, and was shocked that there were small pieces of walnut SHELL (!) in the topping. This is such a huge NO No, that I ofcourse threw it out and was thankful that I hadn't broken a tooth. Zeit Fur Brot - what was once my favorite yeast cake has now become a total turn-off. If you cannot control all pieces of the nut shells then you should not be making this cake. Very disappointed and not sure I'll ever go back...
