Midi Gastro Concept GmbH — Restaurant in Bonn

My daughter and I came to Bonn for the first time. We saw this restaurant and decided to give it a try. I said “Hello, can we get a table for 2” in English. The woman that initially greeted us put on a sour frown on her face then put down 2 menus on a table and walked off. She said something to another woman who turned out to be our waitress. She was so rude to us. She checked on all the tables but ours. She kept giving us dirty looks. I’m not sure if she didn’t like Americans but the whole experience was bizarre. I had to go up to the bar to ask to pay our check because she kept ignoring us. The bartender told her we wanted to pay and we had to wait another 10 minutes before she would bring our check. Completely unprofessional and rude. It’s a shame because the hamburger and curry...

The location is spot on, sunny, in the center of things. Food is OK, menu has some interesting items. Despite the fact that the place was packed, service was fast and friendly. One star off as there should be someone assigning you to the table. Instead you kind-of wait almost on top of other guests' tables eying them to leave only to rush to grab a table when they do. This could be handled more elegantly and more organized. Another star off is the guy down at the bathroom collecting money. Come on! I understand this is some sort of bad-taste German thing but this place is not some cheap highway dump... Have more class...

Am liebsten würde ich nach dem Tag gestern (11.04, 13 Uhr) null Sterne vergeben. Wir sind Bonner und gingen immer gerne ins MIDI, alleine schon wegen der super Lage! Gestern sind wir aber aus allen Wolken gefallen. Da wir schon etwas länger auf das Essen gewartet haben und einen Termin hatten, wollten wir mal freundlich nachfragen, wie lange es ungefähr dauern wird. Unsere Kellnerin erwiderte ziemlich unhöflich, dass sie das nicht nachfragen könnte und außerdem sowieso noch 9 vor uns wären. Auf die Frage, ob sie dann nochmal nachfragen könnte, ob es schon zubereitet wurde (damit wir es aufgrund des Termines notfalls stornieren können), wurde die richtig wütend und meinte, dass auch das nicht gehen würde und wir es halt als ToGo mitnehmen müssen (meine Mutter ist fast 70, nein Danke!). Wir müssten ja schließlich damit rechnen, dass es aufgrund des Mittags länger dauern könne. Sobald wir etwas erwidern wollten, hat sie uns lauthals unterbrochen. Wir haben uns schon darauf vorbereitet, das Essen einfach zu bezahlen (ohne es zu verspeisen) und zu gehen, weil wir absolut keine Lust mehr auf die Diskussion hatten. Schließlich ist sie nach einer Zeit aber wiedergekommen (hat offensichtlich beim Chef nachgefragt) und hat das Essen abbestellt. Währenddessen hat sie weiterhin ziemlich verärgert geschimpft. Da es dann doch geklappt hat, wollten wir trotz ihrer extremen Unhöflichkeit, Trinkgeld aufgrund ihrer Mühe geben. Dieses hat sie lautstark abgelehnt und meinte, sie würde es nicht annehmen. Wir könnten ihr ja das nächste mal Trinkgeld geben, wenn wir meinen, sie hätte es verdient.

Wir sind wirklich sprachlos!! Bei meinen ganzen Restaurantbesuchen habe ich so etwas noch nie (!!!) erlebt - einfach nur unmöglich und absout respektlos!! Wir werden es uns als alte Stammkunden jetzt 3x überlegen, ob wir nochmal...
